  1. That's because there is absolutely no replacement for someone like Freddie Mercury, and the band's sound is pretty much built around his vocal presence. Neil is just a drummer. Get the next one and move on... I think he also wrote their lyrics. His lyrics were nothing special. Too many words crammed into awkward musical phrases. Get the next one and move on.

  3. Is there a particular thread that seems to be the source of all this angst?
  4. And how long are you planning on waiting? Until one of them dies, or is that just replacement time? Well...they haven't proved me wrong yet...
  5. Being upset with a personal attack is completely understandable. Being upset because people are expressing an opinion you don't like is a you problem.
  6. I remember hearing the title track a little before the release date and thinking..."Well, they had a good run, I guess this is it." The poorest record in the catalogue.
  7. Now you know how I felt in 1982 Huh? What happened then? Whooosh
  8. That's one I'd love to hear with better instruments.
  9. He has gotten extremely lazy, to the point you wonder why the keyboard is there at all. Since 90% of the parts are digital triggers, why all the hassle of setting up a full rig just so he can play Subdivisions straight? On S&A Live, he doesn't even bother with the D to A chords in the beginning of Mission. They would have been just as good leaving all the triggers up to Neil. Maybe next tour....
  10. I thought he wrote Lessons too. Can't blame him for forgetting that one....
  11. It was recorded without a bass guitar, for starters...
  12. Not all 15 year olds are bubble-headed morons. I have a 12 year old stepdaughter who could probably hold her own with a lot of adults when discussing certain topics. There are other teenagers on this forum who are mature and well-spoken, and if they had never announced their age we would never know they were teens. I have wondered many times if S74 is actually 15 since she acts much younger. She can't be all bad - she likes Rush, right? I agree that a person should understand that others have opinions you may not share yourself and you have to accept that. But maybe she is just trying to get to the heart of the matter and understand why more clearly? Just trying to see both sides here, because I have found the discussion of their solo albums interesting. You got it. Why are you looking for explanations of such a subjective topic? Victor, MFH, and just about any other western music album is a combination of percussion and various arrangements of 13 notes or less. Just because someone has made a lot of music I liked, is no guarantee that he'll continue to do so. Why on Earth are you upset enough to start a whole thread about it? You know who I'm going to see next week? The Proclaimers. The Scottish twins who were one-hit wonders in America over 20 years ago. I could not care less if everyone here ridiculed it and I was banned from every Rush board in existence. I'm still going, I'm gonna meet them and I'm gonna have a blast. Stop wasting your time caring about what others think.
  13. Some more perspective I've just learned. According to her profile page, Surrender is only FIFTEEN! You're debating with a teenage girl folks. This is coming to mind....
  14. I don't see that on my copy. Same here. Oops. It was Between Sun and Moon that was an extra. Ceiling Unlimited must've been on one of my bootlegs. Haven't listened to either in about 10 years.
  15. Ceiling Unlimited is on the Rio disc as an extra. It actually has a better mix to it than the main setlist.
  16. Then here`s to hoping that time drains his bank account. :P So THERE you are.......
  17. The guy from Stryper, the guy from Firehouse, the guy from Cinderella, the guy from Motley Crue and Sheryl Crow.
  18. The Proclaimers Let's Hear It For The Dogs.

    Rush tattoo

I should find the loser from the show I saw in Saratoga in 2012. He had a tattoo from every single studio and live release on his body.
  20. That will never happen. They'd lose money. Well, that and the fact that Neil will NEVER play live again. lol OK, I understand that about Neil. I don't understand the losing money part. How did the Allman Brothers do their residencies at the Beacon Theatre for more than 20 years if that type of arrangement loses money? Billy Joel has been doing once a month shows at Madison Square Garden that continue all through this year. I'm not being snarky, I just don't understand the finances. Are you saying the production values of a Rush show are pretty pricey and it takes many, many tour dates (not just a week) to pay for the show? The 1st part. While I do not know the exact details of the Allman Brothers specific contract, it probably is a set dollar amount. We as fans think the artist is getting the gross amount. On an extended stay that is rarely the case. The artist usually gets a promised amount from the venue in exchange for a certain number of shows. So in this case the Beacon sits 2800, and if the Allmans play 5 nights they may get a set amount of say $500,000. Now that is without a single ticket being sold. Beacon can turn around with Citi and sell 2800x$100 for $280,000 times 5 shows for $1,400,000. This way both win. It's No difference then telling a band at your bar, we'll pay you $400 for each night + free booze. If the bar is charging a $20 cover and no one shows up, the band still gets paid..if 1000 people show up over 2 days, the bar wins. Santana and Billy Idol have deals in place for 15 shows a year at House of Blues in Vegas. That place only sits 700. No way they make money without getting a Set dollar amount for each show. The casino wants bodies 'In the building' and they will get it. All true. However, I don't think Rush has the diverse fan base required for an "extended stay" like that to be successful for the venue. So, that won't happen. Well, that and the fact the Neil will NEVER play live with Rush again. :D Well, then it's time for a new drummer and off to R01... :P Agreed. Replace the grumpy old bugger and move on. He's not THAT special. Anyone can write socially awkward lyrics and overplay their drum parts...
  21. Either you're trolling or your ear congestion is more severe than I thought. Please seek help immediately before it's too late. I guess that's what passes for a personal attack in the Rush safe place. How cute! Nice job, kid.
