  1. Would you be so kind as to source this? Something about this does not seem very "Neil". I'm just trying to find out if he actually said that, or if you were paraphrasing something he said. Thanks. If it's me Lerxster your wondering tullfan is quoting the answer is yes, perhaps i used the wrong word"popular" and should've said the required" standards or popular standards" in making my point. I guess that might of thrown tullfan off. But i believe the majority get the gist of what i was talking about.
  2. My guess is the connection on how this came about is How i met you mother cast member Jason Segel. "I love you man", & appeared on the Time Machine tour film short.. Could be he really is a fan of Rush and they became friends.
  3. Ahhh c'mon it's not that bad, matter of fact think it's kinda cool he's going be on it. Hell Ged and his daughter appeared (briefly) in a scene on The Gilmore girls.
  4. Did I bug ya? Didn't mean to bug ya... :P Really don't have to explain in great lengths, since many have responded that share my point of view. I'm the one that's puzzled by not just you( as you can see by my quote"Many loyal Rush fans") who were so hostile to the multiple set list from a time period that they rarely touched on in depth like they did this tour. Just like to understand YOUR point of view. Hell I love 70's Rush just as much as you!! Circumstances on S&A tour was a major highlight for me. You see I'm a fan of there entire career ..no I don't like every thing they done not by a long shot, but Im open minded enough and evolved my taste as the band progressed in new directions. It's been a enjoyable ride right up to the modern masterpiece Clock Work Angels. :ebert:
  5. I enjoyed the mid 80's set list, different is good. Really get tired hearing the required same " popular" must play songs tour after tour. Can't understand this late in the game why many loyal Rush fans didn't feel the same way. But oh well to each his own..
  6. There's some truth in that, layoffs and reduced work hours were worse last year in this area then 2011. Hardest hit was manufacturing which is still a big employer in NE Ohio. I work at a steel mill and my wife dairy plant, things have picked up recently but there were some bad months in 2012 late summer to early fall. Seems to me some of the locations were Rush sold out they haven't played in recent past tours. So oversaturation also could of been another factor why the low turnout along with hard economic times.(Detroit,Pittsburgh,Cleveland)... "Seen them last year, things are tight can't really afford it going have to pass on this one"
  7. The seating capacity figures do seem odd. Last year at the" Q" Time Machine sold out capacity 14,970. This year for C Angels, 8,025/ seating capacity 10,383. Lower expectations? All i know is the tour books completely sold out and there not reprinting anymore.. damn it!!!
  8. The concert film & EP Under a blood red sky way better then the bloated Rattle& Hum( although there is some good tracks on that one as well) U2 was just on the verge of mega stardom, but still came across as sincere and less egotistical posturing. That i felt was the trap U2 fell into later on believeing ther own hype. Interesting side note on the Red Rocks concert watching a documentary on the Welsh group The Alarm narrated by lead singer Mike Peters they opened for U2 that night. What a perfect double bill at that moment!!!....... I seen U2 Unforgettable Fire tour Richfield Coliseum still ranks in my top 5 concerts of all time.
  9. I did not get one for Cleveland show( yes they had them) because i don't really like carrying around tour merchandise at the venue. So thought i would get one on Rush backstage club.... Not only do they not have them, there not going to have them at all! :( E-mailed them and the answer I was told...." there sold out concerts & backstage club. Not able to secure the rights to reprint more."...???? Guess jump on it for Europe tour next year if available online backstage club. Weird and disappointing!!! :(
  10. You would think since they reviewed Clock Work Angels as "very good" it would of least been somewhere in the top 50. Guess they thought Rush in the rock hall AND we already did a full blown article on them. geez enough already!!! :eyeroll: ....Back to how great The Rolling Stones still are!!! :codger:
  11. You know what is amazing, the amount of idiots who are really pissed Rush got in. Reading some of the comments on Cleveland.com range from they padded attendance figures for the Time Machine filming at the "Q" Gave away tickets, and arena curtained off. (not the TM tour) moron only seats that were empty BEHIND THE STAGE which were not on sell in the first place!! And then the comment rush fans have mullets and still listen to them in some of the trashy bars that still play that Rush crap.
  12. There's an NPR reporter/blogger who's been writing for a year or two about Rush and how they deserve induction into the Hall... so it seems NPR is on Rush's side, actually. The last thing about Rush that I read on NPR's site predicted the band will be inducted this year, and gave reasons for its prediction. A few weeks back listening to WKSU NPR, They had a interview with our Rush buddy Billy Corgan of the Pumpkins interviewer wanting to discuss new Smashing Pumpkins album. Billy would frequently veer off the subject go into lengthy observations on the quality of the music of Rush. Interviewer would say "Yes. yes I agree had all there albums and seen them in concert numerous times... BUT getting back to your band.." :D
  13. What a desperate little man wanting someone, anyone to agree he's right. Insecure & unhappy who's opinion mean zero, failing at his profession. If Randall Roberts never bothered being eighth grade rock critic... Junior highschool journalism would still read and sound the same.
  14. Yeah, I heard bits & pieces of it at work on WRQK in Canton.(station that never plays Rush)
  15. Gotta love my fellow Rush fans, having to explain the meaning behind the T's . In a dry professional manner.. "Both are intended to be be silly and reflect their sense of humor." Oh...! In that case I shall Laugh Out Loud! Thank You for your information...
  16. Yep, I agree. Even if they film/record one version of the setlist, there should be an entire CD of bonus tracks covering the other songs! -Jane This could be a really interesting bluray/cd package and one of Rush's top concert films if done right. With the varied setlist hearing and seeing the brilliant ClockWork Angels performed in the comfort of your own home. Along with that fantastic string section it will be one of the most highly anticipated Rush live releases in years.
  17. I wish they would of done this for Cleveland, skip the Q this year. And play Blossom Music Center Cuyahoga Falls late spring/summer?
  18. I just realized Oct 28th Cleveland show was my 15th time seeing Rush since 1980! I Know that's nothing compared to the many addicts out there, but still proud of my achivement. lol
  19. That couple can definitely be described as "casual fans".......too bad for them..... I don't understand why people like that even buy a ticket. It's like people going to see Grateful Dead just to hear "Touch of Gray" or buying tickets to a Sabbath reunion show just to hear "Iron Man". I just don't get it. If all you enjoy hearing is stuff from Moving Pictures, then please stay at home and listen to the album. Like it or not, they made numerous records after that, and yes, some of them were better. That's what surprised me the most, that Rush this stage of there career still draw "casual" fans to there concert.
  20. I like your logic here, they should of consulted you first when they put this tour together. Lol Good stuff.. I was going to post a topic but I think I'll just add it to this one. " I guess a Rush rarities tour is out of the Question" With the way C.A. alternate set list divided the Rush faithful and tepid response to the change. Right around the time of R30 (or shortly after) there was talk on TRF about Rush playing just the deep cuts and dusting off rare gems not played in years. I think Alex even mentioned he would like to have a tour like that, as it stands now that wouldn't be possible playing large arenas. Down The Tubes tour part II.
  21. This describes just about everybody that was sitting around me at the Cleveland show or just the audience overall, for the most part. Sad but true... (excluding myself of course!!) lol Lower sec 100 screamed yelled STOOD , not the entire show but enough to show my appreciation. Had to be considerate of the complacent senior crowd and really the lack of enthusiasm dragged me down. You want to feed off the energy of fellow concert goers and it drains your own energy to nil when everyone around you is sitting there like zombies. Agree with your other post on here also about the older crowd being so narrow minded when it came to the set list. Really surprised me how Rush loyalist could be so stuck in a time warp and want to hear the same songs tour after tour..... btw I'm 50 but when I see Rush live it's like I'm in my youth again Power Windows tour Richfield Coliseum.....
  22. I liked the idea, really there was always parts of Neil's long drum solo that I didn't really care for. Did miss the Big Band jazz segment this year.
  23. I'm really surprised this late in the game that Rush fans wouldn't want to hear more "deep cut's" or seledom played songs from often overlooked era's of the band. My impression always has been that the fan's have been with them for along time and not newbies and get bored with hearing the same songs every tour. So it is a shock that this tour has brought such negative responses because I'm sure Rush thought the same thing. And the fans would be happy for a different various set list.BTW Clock Work Angels was well worth hearing almost in it's entirety.
