  1. Today I had my first morning in about 10 - 15 years without any pain. My senses were clear, nothing was dimmed by the reflections of aches. It was almost out of my comprehension to take a shower and wash my hair without any hurt in my scalp, face or neck. I didn't remember how it was to put my clothes on without feeling dizzy and to eat breakfast feeling rested. I got to realize that whatever pain I have, I need to listen to it, take it in my arms and let it rest in a warm embrace. To tell the pain that I will never more abandon it or leave it crying in the loneliness. This gift, as I call it, loves to live in silence and stillness. In a world where many people shout out loud one needs silence to hear the pain.
  2. Hugs and prayers, our dear Lorraine. :hug2: :hug2: :hug2:
  3. Happy birthday, Laura! I hope you've enjoyed your special day. :rose: :cheerleader: :cheerleader: :cheerleader: :guitar: :NP: :rush:
  4. I went to Mass today as well, and lighted a candle and prayed for you, Lorraine. There is not a single day that you wouldn't be in my thoughts and prayers. :hug2: :hug2: :hug2: I really hope that you get to enjoy this beautiful season as much as possible.
  5. I will pray for you, Lorraine. Praying right now. You will not walk alone.
  6. :hug2: :hug2: :hug2: How was it with audio books, or to have someone to read some shorter stories to you?
  7. Tonight I went to the swimming baths. I knew I love swimming but now I became vividly aware again of how much I love the feeling of water carrying me and caressing my burnt-out body. It's been long since I've been able to do any sports. I felt so happy to notice that I could swim 300 metres. That's not even a 1/3 - 1/4 of what I used to swim routinely, but with a burnout, every step forward feels like a victory. Now I'm exhausted (in a non-consuming way), and looking forward to visiting the baths again. Got to take it slow.
  8. We just had a fierce shower of sleet out of a sudden.
  9. Must be beautiful! For how long does it take to have a lasting snow on the ground - your best guess? :) Within a month and a half? In the Valley, lasting snow comes in late December, and by lasting I mean on the ground for a week or so. The stuff up high in the Sierras should be with us for the duration. We should statistically expect the first snow here in less than a month, but it is most likely to melt away within a day or two. The lasting snow cover (if such thing anymore exists) might be here on the coast late December- early January.

  11. My bass and I just composed the first four or eight bars of our first ever composition. Might be a minuet or a polska of some kind, not yet quite sure of what the time signature is. The piece is meant for dancing in a pretty slow tempo, anyhow. The first part (the theme) will be in minor. I'm a bit astonished, not by the melody itself (it's very generic within the genre) but by that this just happened, and exactly five months after I started playing. A perfect surprise on my monthly celebration day with the bass (it's always on the 11th day of the month).
  12. Congrats! For me, playing with others, whatever the context, gives a purpose to practice and makes it way more fun. Thanks goose! It really does that to me, too. In my mind's eye I can see myself having fun while playing music at garden parties, small gigs and at home with friends. And of course at my 90th birthday party. I only have 46 years time to practice for that special event.
  13. A few hours ago I played bass together with a guitar player and a drummer for the first time ever. It was a friend of mine, a friend of hers, and me, in our doom/sludge band. We played some goofy, improvised stuff for two hours or so, and it was great fun. It's more like a musical get-together than an actual band, and I really enjoyed it.
  14. Have a real special and happy birthday, invisible airwave! :)
  15. I'm very sad to hear this, Rhyta. :( Rest in peace, Faramir. :rose: He sounded like a really beautiful cat. The furry family members we get to spend time with are so important to us, and having to let them go is tough. The sorrow is painful. I hope that you get to spend time with Ron and Rusty and honour the memory of Faramir the ways that you think is best. Hugs. :hug2:
  16. I'm glad you were able to go to the Mass that you had longed for. Thank you for your prayers. :hug2: We had similar thoughts. I went to Mass as well today into a big, medieval church, and lit a candle for you, Lorraine, accompanied with a prayer. Such a peaceful moment.
  17. I still can't read this without crying. Thank you for one of the most beautiful posts I ever read on here. Thank you for these kind words, Lorraine. Yesterday, when I read the post in this thread, I cried my heart out. I'm stil crying. The people on TRF are the best. You are and will always be one of us, Lorraine. Hugs. :hug2:
  18. he's doing great! he has his fussy days but other than that he's been an easy baby. That's nice to hear! I hope that you get to visit him often. Babies are such miracles. I've seen my siblings' kids and my godchildren grow, but unfortunately I don't meet them often enough. The youngest of them all is four years already.... Babies grow so fast. I'm an aunt of three and a godmother of two wonderful children.
  19. Congratulations, Jamie! :cheerleader: :cheerleader: :cheerleader: How's the little one doing? :)
  20. Hi and welcome, BastillePark! :hi: I hope you'll enjoy your stay here with us. :) Greetings from Scandinavia!
