  1. Ouch! Is that in the same politically incorrect line of jokes, such as... Where do you find Bob? ...in the water. Where do you find Art? ...on the wall. Cliff? ...beside a hole. Phil? ..inside that same hole.
  2. It is a better forum when we are all in, together.
  3. I almost posted something along the lines of "why waste your money on music you don't really enjoy" but then I realized I bought VT, S&A, and CA. ;) Not a fan of the latest albums? I get there is an ongoing discussion regarding style and sound for each, but all three? It took more time for me to come around to the last albums than the earlier ones (Ok, some "middle albums" also), but at some point they clicked, and some songs clicked hard. I bet a lot of us bought albums we were not sure about, but for me playing them often and in different moods or during different activities, parts of them can grow strong. Some songs on each, in my opinion, are some of the best to demonstrate their talents. Yes a chorus or a phrase sounds oddly "radio" or "poppy", but also some instrumental parts are amazing? I have not been a very huge fan of Alex's recent solo releases - but to be fair, he gets to do exactly what he wants. Free releases, lesser known musicians being a bigger part than his part(s), pretty cool, no? Edit: At the end of the interview above, so interesting to hear about the Rolling Stones playing the El Macambo. On March 25, the day after your interview, Rod, they announced the release of the two night show from there from 1977. Sweet!
  4. I wish I was there. Hoping it's a great show, it would be fun to raise a glass together :) Watch out for a tallish bald man in the corners, Kim might be there :codger:
  5. As a celebrity of course, easy to make travel videos. But his shows really work for me, great mix of culture and travel and motorcycle routes. Of course, the best one is Extreme Frontiers: Canada. He mixes pre-booked visits with spontaneous adventure and makes it all look like a relaxed adventure, with exciting bits in between. Prime Video, not a waste a time (in my opinion!).
  6. How did you become involved with the Rush reissue campaign and did you work on anything (live) that didn't appear on a release? What were some Rush songs that changed the most from when they were recorded and what were those changes? Looking for more "nothing in the vault" content? Please, yes! For me, I think of him talking about how this trio came up with concepts and didn't know how to make it work. Please help us, we are new but have a lot to say :)
  7. I was a teenager, our next door neighbour had been doing "Extra" rolls in movies for quite some time (the long white beard, the solemn face, etc.), often cast as a dinner guest. He came to me and asked if I could show up for a movie set, could I bring a friend? I did, and we sat around all day for a pay of sixty dollars. There was a catered lunch, lots of dressing up in period clothes (70s coal miners work suits, check that nobody had a modern watch, etc.). After a few hours we were called to action and told to stand in a line as a helicopter landed. Being told where to go and when to stand still, it was very exciting but strict with lots of commands and directions of what to do. With faces smeared with black dust and political flyers being passed around, I was to meet a fellow and shake his hand. At the very moment when I was shaking his hand, the director yelled "Cut!". The guy told me to stand still and not let go of his hand, "keep still", he said. I knew he was a semi-famous actor, I knew I was lucky to be a part of something - but the logistics, the surprise of being interrupted for something, the whole "stay put, be in the moment" part escaped me. I stood there with my hand in his, we waited for a few minutes. It was a long few minutes with our hands holding together. But nobody moved. Then it continued and the rest of the day was a bit of a blur. I was holding Charles Bronson's hand, standing there waiting, him being very helpful, in the movie Act Of Vengeance, 1986. Best sixty bucks I ever earned!
  8. At first, I "liked" your post. I had to re-log in, to lend support. Laurabw, you are reminding us of Lorraine's message, really. Yes, she shared her journey and as awkward as it felt, at times, we chose to join her. But she also warned us, and you are reminding us of that. Lorraine was telling us what it was like. To not assume we are immune. With the pandemic, and lots of folks not wanting to even "go there", it is more important than ever. Thank you.
  9. I watched the episode. I didn't know the series was humorous, a bit silly, but Geddy's scenes fit right in. I got three references from his career, there might have been more? The name "Tom Sawyer". Suggesting a cabin not too far away "It's no Xanadu". And just after a baby is born in the show, he says "Celebrate the moment", a quote from One Little Victory, or perhaps just a coincidence. But, I wonder, given a chance to include Neil in the works of things, it was a pivotal time in the band and the title track of Vapor Trails did have those words in the title track. It was a celebration that Neil was back and ready to play. My thoughts.
  10. Please believe me, PM, I am poking fun at you, not literally being critical. Words don't always present the tone of what I am trying to say. I was just ganging up on your choice of a joke, I suppose, sorry if it sounded high and mighty. It's the last thing I want to be. Please post more jokes, as astoundingly terrible as they might be, they are always a source of giggle and that is what we need in the world these days :)
  11. Principled Man, I have said it before, a thousand times (or was that in my mind?) but... don't quit your day job. And don't accept wooden nickles from toothless strangers. That might be grandpa advice, not a joke...still. OK. Question: What do you give a sick lemon? Answer: Lemon aid. Duh??!!!! Lemon aid, get it?
  12. A friend told me about it, he was surprised I had not heard about it. He mentioned it like Alex was sitting beside Neil as he played away. But, Alex has been releasing songs from the solo album bit by bit, which I have been listening to. I believe this is the final song for his solo album before its release soon. It completes the album, and is a tribute?
  13. Still, Pretty cool he wants to be a part of more projects. Or...Continue making Moving Pictures? :dweez: (I looked for an excuse to use a meme and found it!)
  14. Just last October she still made me giggle. Somebody signed up to promote their new novel and got razzed pretty good right from the get go. Then Lorraine chimes in with: No one here knows how to read.Does it have pictures? Maybe we will buy it to look at the pictures.
  15. CBC television in Canada has had a long running series called Murdoch Mysteries, a campy lower budget mystery series set back in time during the 1890s to early 1900s. Based on the novels by Maureen Jennings, a series of murders in Toronto are investigated by a young detective William Murdoch. The next episode on Monday March 21 will include Geddy as a carriage driver. Should get lots of hits by searching Geddy Lee Murdoch... It's a small part of a subplot, but humour prevails. At one point the investigator asks the driver his name. "Sawyer. Tom Sawyer." So fun. I love that man :)
  16. Finally, may you rest in peace. :rose: Thanks to everybody who kept us informed.
  17. What made my day today? For the first time in almost two years (not trying to invite pandemic philosophies - but it was a factor; not about masking by region - but Ontario is a huge province; not about new health measures - yes there were many visits with friends; ...) But, went out for dinner at the local Keg Restaurant. Up here, we are trying to get back to normal. Two years. And feeling the need to spend! To just be served food and drinks and get into a (smelly) cab, again, on the way there. I was a server at this Keg about thirty years ago, going through school, have been back over the years. But tonight? First night out, ordered everything - cocktails, appetisers, salad, meal, dessert, the Spanish Coffees, everything clicked perfectly. I re-masked, entered the aisles to find a manager to say that our server is a keeper and deserves recognition. I saw one of the owners, the guy who has scrubbed dishes on a busy Saturday night (I have seen it!), drop french fry baskets when his family was in line for two hours. After a quick chat and catching up on what we are up to, lately, we fist bumped and went away. Our desserts were free! Ha. The invoice showed every item, yup, but Billy Miner Pie, Small Chocolate Brownie...Zero :chickendance: What made my day today was going back to a place I worked, seeing how much they still care about a dining experience, and remembering how great it felt to work there when I was still in school.
  18. Quote...and Paste - this looks like it shows directly under the very first Post - but I want it to show at the end, where we are still replying. Now "Posting" and hope it shows at the end. I wish to celebrate your first, honest, group gathering, Rush loving post about your condition. And then say, after all this time you have support and strength in numbers :)
  19. Curious, Yes your work is really good and the rendering and conversion is awesome! I hope you DO, do more projects like this. But, I ask honestly, what makes one concert, or one song more "workable" than another? There must be thousands of versions of concerts and songs out there. I am not bringing up the "there is nothing in the vault" card, but why this song on a bonus track, on a bootleg that got your attention? Is it because you found a "source-code" to be user friendly, a good starting point to begin an audiophile project? There are countless bootlegs, why now? I sincerely thank you for your thoughts :rush:
  20. Blasted Test For Echo yesterday, random set list. Very fun album with so many sounds and Geddy sounds really, really great!
  21. Dear Lorraine  Can you or a nurse share how you are doing? Terrible, painful, not pretty, please share your feelings again :rose: :rose: Lots of love here for you from strangers and friends who all love Rush and want to hold your hand on your journey
  22. I watched the whole video, wonderful! Thanks Weakly Criminal for posting this. Pandemic times delaying just about everything, a contest with so many hopeful participants, Carrie's interpretation of these young folks and their beginnings, really great. And once again, feeling Neil's life in it all, it is more than just the drumming. A drummer is more than just their sticks and playing. Always learning more.. Like, of course an essay is part of it! Writing, drumming, more writing, more drumming. The poor little fella will be getting a fork lift of prizes! Imagine all the deluxe box sets, super sweet :)
  23. Thank you for all the behind the scenes work to keep us all happy, much appreciated!
