  1. Lorraine... One of the shining lights of TRF. Thank you.
  2. I didn't notice a real decline until the CA tour, meaning his voice was getting hard to bear. But even then he had good moments. It was hit and miss. Same for the Time Machine tour but CA tour I really could tell it was getting tougher. Then R40 it's almost unlistenable. So hell, he made it nearly 40 years. With that intense high end approach. Other singers should be so lucky.
  3. https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/foo_fighters_hawkins_names_favorite_rush_album_says_even_casual_fans_should_check_it_out.html Taylor Hawkins talking up Neil and ESL.
  4. What's the context here? Never seen it but it's a cool one. :-)
  5. I dunno the GuP version is pretty stellar.
  6. I'm still working my way chronologically through the DVDs. I plan on watching the SnA tour tonight. I find the closer I get to the end of my marathon viewing the more dread I feel.
  7. Fantastic info. We can only hope we get some kind of release for this stuff in our lifetimes.
  8. That's the only other one I could agree with. If it weren't for Tai Shan and High Water, HYF might have PoW beat. Lol, those are two of my favorites from HYF. Said nobody ever lol. Tai Shan is a real momentum killer. It's not as bad as a lot of fans make it out to be but those eight songs before just flow so well and take you on this great ride. Then Tai Shan comes on and just kills it. Just like Speed Of Love. Counterparts is going along tremendously until that song halts things for a few minutes. I do think because of the dislike many have for Tai Shan that High Water gets an unfair amount of hate because it has to try and save the album and end it on a good note. I feel the song does that. I'm not sure how Rush fans could listen to what Neil is doing on High Water and not like it in some way? He's really getting down with drum groove on it. I agree on every point. High Water is a good track. Same here. With the exception of Available Light, I like High Water more than any closer from every album that followed. And yes that includes The Garden which I like just fine. I wouldn't go that far! :-) I liked it the first time I heard it. And it’s grown on me even more over the years. BUT to be honest, I think every album closer from Bones and onwards (with the exception of The Garden) is mediocre or worse. YBYL is one of their worst tunes ever imho I agree with you there. YBYL is lane.

  10. Okay :codger: I hatefully disagree. :) Power Windows is one of my least favorite Rush albums. I've often wondered what forms our musical taste and why a song one person loves is horrid to the ears of another. But that is what makes life interesting. I guess. Look here http://www.therushfo...an/page__st__20, three people think Tai Shan is better than Xanadu. Two people are taking the piss and don’t actually think Tai Shan is better. The third probably misread the question or has some personal vendetta against Xanadu due to some past trauma associated with the tune Those folks never dined on honeydew nor drank the milk of paradise. What do they know??

  12. He was responsible for buying the weed that week Haha! Probably not far from the truth.
  13. Didn't Ray Danniels have a German Shepherd that partially inspired By Tor? Same dog maybe? It was only 6 years after By Tor was written.
  14. Human rights issue. Why would that be political? The calling out of a Trump supporter made it political. Stay on topic. This thread is about Neil tributes. Take the politics to SOCN.
  15. My wife and I had a rare Saturday yesterday that was free of anything to do so we spent the entire day watching Rush DVDs. It has been therapeutic! We started with the Laura Secord/Rutsey stuff and just went chronologically through it all. Well, we got to the Presto tour and stopped. Today we will try to finish but we have chores we need to do too! At any rate it has helped a lot. And you are right, it seems surreal.
  16. I love the Doobies. Especially the pre-Michael McDonald Doobies. Great songs. Hit after hit after hit in the seventies. Kind of like The Eagles. Yes sorta Eagles and Steely Dan combined.
  17. love your picture of King's X, I wonder what the other power trio thinks of the death of Neil Doug Pinnick posted RIP Neil Peart on his FB page the day it was announced.
  18. I don't think it is necessarily out of bounds to love a band/artist so much that when they get up there in age you lament the fact that one day they will no longer be with us I am a huge Paul McCartney fan, and am of the mindset where I know in my lifetime we will see the headline "Paul McCartney passed away" and that inspires me to take in every note and every new song on his new albums and concerts that much more - and appreciate them I might have to take off work the day I read that headline. Macca / Beatles rule my musical sphere. It will be hard.
  19. The The 13th Floor Elevators Bruce Hornsby's group: The Range Huey Lewis's group: The News
  20. I like the Doobies. Great string of hits. And an actual rock band.
  21. Beatles: 1 Revolver 2 Abbey Road 3 White Album 4 Sgt Pepper 5 A Hard Day's Night 6 Rubber Soul 7 Magical Mystery Tour 8 Help! 9 Beatles for Sale 10 Let it Be 11 With the Beatles 12 Please Please Me 13 Yellow Submarine
  22. Holy crap my wife and I were making just this comment about Face Up yesterday! We love the song but hate the production. I told her it should've been produced by Peter Collins and was a dry run for Stick it Out.
