  1. I can't understand half of what he's singing in Seven Cities. That's the worst one for me.
  2. I used to agree with the OP about the guitar tone on HYF... and I held it against that album for a LONG TIME... however for some reason, in recent years, I've listened to that album from a new perspective, and I have totally changed my opinion. The guitar tone on that album is absolutely PERFECT for those songs. Maybe it's because I've seen them playing various HYF songs during live performance in (relatively) recent years... the thick and heavy tone he favors these days just does not fit very well with those songs, and I guess it's made me appreciate how much his sparkly and shimmering tone actually is a defining characteristic of the HYF album. (same goes for the Wal bass... the Fender kind of muddies the waters... but that's another topic ) edit: Sorry... back on topic... yes, the 80s Alex tone is pure bliss! And welcome by the way
  3. I think it's incredible that they're still putting on a 3 hour show, and bringing the house down, at 60 years old... we're VERY fortunate to have enjoyed this band for as long as we have. Not many other bands have offered that to their fanbase. And as always, no one knows what the future brings, so enjoy the ride while you can! It's definitely sobering though. Sadder still to watch it die, than never to have known it...
  4. QUOTE (Pericles @ Oct 18 2012, 12:18 AM)Just wondering if anyone has a really good picture of the complete woman cellist? http://www.rushshowphotos.com/Rush2012/Tor...gGcqV&lb=1&s=X3
  5. I can't be certain, but I was passed by a gray BMW motorcycle with cargo boxes at a high rate of speed heading towards the Indianapolis show. It looked pretty much identical to Neil's riding partner's bike as shown on his latest website update. I'd wager that it was Michael, but again I can't be certain.
  6. QUOTE (USB Connector @ Oct 15 2012, 07:36 PM) This is excellent to hear. How was Geddy's keyboard/mic rig? I'm going to be off to the side of the stage near the front and I'm worried I won't be able to see much because of how bulky it was during the TM Tour. Ged's keyboard setup is actually a little too much imho... he still has just two, I believe a digital on bottom and a Moog Little Phatty or similar analog on top... but they're clad in a themed stage prop kind of housing... point being, unless the live camera is showing a view from above, you can't see anything that Ged is doing there, because it's all completely blocked. That's really my only complaint about the CA stage.
  7. QUOTE (Jaminbenb @ Oct 15 2012, 09:22 AM)No offense, but who really listens to regular radio anymore If I want my Rush (or anyone else for that matter) I just pull out the CD or my iPod and go from there.... Amen to that!!!
  8. If they are inducted, I truly and sincerely hope they DECLINE. Oh, the sweet irony... and it would be a mark of true greatness on their part. Their discography, fanbase, and enduring career is a hall of fame unto itself. Being ignored by the RRHOF is part of their identity now, and I actually don't want that taken away.
  9. QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Oct 4 2012, 06:44 PM) I truly hope they don't make it...or better yet, don't accept it. AMEN TO THAT. Their career, discography, and fanbase is a hall of fame unto itself. Imagine the sweet irony if they DECLINED entry. THAT would be a true mark of greatness right there. Being ignored by the RRHOF is part of what gives Rush their identity. I actually don't want that taken away for some reason.
  10. I personally hope they NEVER get in the RRHOF... their career and discography and fanbase is a hall of fame unto itself. And if they DO get inducted, I actually hope they decline! Oh, sweet irony...
  11. Nobody mentioned Turn the Page yet? (sorry if they did and I missed it) That might trump them all! The bassline and vocal line have absolutely nothing to do with each other in that song.
  12. Anarchist... "the lenses inside of me, that paint the world black..." That whole section has a bassline which is in a totally different rhythmic groove than the vocals are. I noticed this while singing and playing air bass in the car ...and I think I even read an article where Ged mentioned this as a tough spot as well.
  13. Wow - excellent pics! I was very close to the stage, 2nd row lower bowl... great seats, but the overall stage and light production is much more impressive when viewed from further back like this.
  14. QUOTE (Khan @ Sep 24 2012, 10:13 AM)Gotta say I was disappointed in this tour's drum solo...too electronic-based for me. I agree. Seems like the first couple of mini-solo's were heavy on the real drums, but what I perceived as the primary drum solo was way too electronic for me. Seeing him hit a black plastic cymbal with a wire sticking out of it is just not doing it for me. I'd love to hear him do that cowbell thing he used to do, with real cowbells, and also bring back the marimba bit as well (even if it's an electronic marimba )
  15. QUOTE (marlinsfan @ Sep 24 2012, 10:17 AM) Are they allowing digital SLR cameras into the shows this tour? if not, the little point and shoot will have to do again! I've been to two shows on this tour so far and I haven't seen anyone with a DSLR. Cellphone cameras galore. Point and shoots, maybe... but I would be cautious if it were me, especially if sitting near an aisle where the security guys can get to you easily
  16. Mike Myers' brother supposedly can be heard shouting the name of his band "Night Hawk" from within the audience when ATWAS was recorded.
  17. Everyone complaining about Wish Them Well... they played this at Indy, and it ROCKED. I suspect I'll get Seven Cities tomorrow at Columbus. Good song, but to be honest, I'd love hearing WTW again. That's how good it was. To each their own
  18. QUOTE (Howye @ Sep 19 2012, 07:56 AM) I have no idea if the section numbers are being moved around, or if the tickets for 102 really are directly to the side of the stage. I may be talking to somebody at the arena today, and if I can find out I will post it here. We had floor seats in 2010 but I specifically remember people with lower bowl tickets getting concerned about the sections changing. Please post any information you find out! I have section 103 tickets this time, and I did start getting concerned when section 102 opened up. So when this happened in 2010, did section 103 for example actually "move" along with the stage, so that the seats were still the same distance from the stage? If so, that's fine. But if the stage moves and my seats stay where they're at, I'd be getting screwed over.
  19. QUOTE (Three Putt @ Sep 19 2012, 01:41 AM) You could argue that a casual fan went from the opener (subdivisions) until yyz, 23 songs later, before recognizing a song. That's not the band's fault. That's the fan's fault, for being casual instead of diehard like they should be.

  21. Great show. I think having the CA songs played together, starting the 2nd set, is absolutely perfect... this is, after all, the CLOCKWORK ANGELS tour, ya know! I was more satisfied with this setlist than I have been in a very long time. I'm glad they're finally through getting off on the S&A material. This set and performance absolutely rocked Side note... my tickets were 6th row, Lower Bowl section 4. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this section STARTS at row 6! edit: Oh, and the nod to Apollo 11 and Neil Armstrong was a very nice touch. That gave me goosebumps. What a class act!
  22. Being completely immersed in the Rush zone prior to a show is absolutely critical for me. My show is about a week away, and I am giving heavy rotation to most of the Rush catalog, exclusively, at this point
  23. <soapbox> Let's just hope that if they do play Animate... that they play it at the ORIGINAL TEMPO. That song kicks @ss on the studio recording. But when they play it live, it's like a car stuck in a muddy rut. Play it at tempo, or don't play it. </soapbox>
