  1. Here's another vote for the Challenger. I feel that at least in terms of appearance, it is the best reissue. The Camaro looks like it had a chopped top put on it. The body is right, but those windows are TOO small IMHO.
  2. Natural Science. Bravado also had a countoff on the CA tour in which it was actually played just a hair slower than the countoff.
  3. I completely agree. IMNSHO keys aren't sacred. I have put a few 2010s versions of songs in concert in Audacity and moved them down a half step. I think with at least Bravado, this would have helped. IMHO the smart approach would have been like how Sting did it on the reunion tour with the Police - try out different keys rather than just pick a tuning and use that. To my ears, he seemed to sound a bit sharp from about 1987-1994 in concert. Too bad, as I like the Presto shows that circulate. When I saw them in KC in 2010, I noticed a few notes were noticeably off (The Camera Eye in particular). In retrospect, I think the trouble for him vocally started in 2008. That drum take only of Natural Science running around on YouTube has Geddy hitting quite a few flat notes. As much as people love Geddy's voice from that time, I think in concert he was terribly inconsistent in that era. He seemed to struggle with the Hemispheres material at that time and never seemed to really nail Freewill in concert once that song came about. IMO he finally figured out how to be consistent come 1984. I believe he said he quit smoking in 1983. I wouldn't be surprised if it was really taxing his voice. Yes, I realize he wasn't as consistently high in his register as he was just a few years prior but there were still songs in the set where he had to belt it.
  4. Ugh...sorry I missed it. Mods, please delete this thread if necessary.
  5. https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/godsmacks-sully-erna-says-neil-peart-was-in-a-wheelchair-and-he-couldnt-speak-in-months-leading-up-to-his-death/ Thoughts?
  6. Unfortunately whenever Geddy and Alex begin talking to the media again, even if it's just a guitar or bass publication, you just know they're going to be inundated with questions about Neil's passing. It's only natural, of course, but I don't envy them. It looked difficult to see them discuss Neil's tragedies many, many years after the fact. Losing one of their own and being asked about it for what is likely to be a long while, I just don't envy them...(much as I, too, will take comfort in the things they share and learning more about how they dealt with things). I have thought about this topic lately as well. At their ages, they are probably dealing with questions about this for the rest of their lives. I bet it will be quite some time before they do interviews. They may end up being as selective as their late friend about this.
  7. Here's another thanks, as I found most of his writings to be enjoyable.
  8. Nice point about the guys being a heart, soul, and brain.
  9. Good on Chris for covering up her face. I understand where that comes from as a parent of 3 children and a skepticism of social media being used a scrapbook and the unintended consequences thereof. I hope for Olivia's sake, plenty of these photos exist. What a bummer for her.
  10. Given how Neil had displayed his personality, I have no doubt that he deliberately avoided letting on about his condition. I would have done the same thing. The public could find out after I am gone. This is still a bummer.
  11. IIRC, something was mentioned about Gord Downie being young to get it but the age Neil was at the time of death was more the median. Still sucks, even if tide after tide will flow and recede... RIP to 1/3 of arguably the first progressive metal band ever.
  12. I could be wrong, but I thought that first video was during Permanent Waves?
  13. I meant the gap around the pickup, not by the bridge.
  14. In the pic of just Geddy from the 1981 shows, there appears to be a big gap in the wood by the bridge pickup. I wonder what's up with that.
  15. Make no mistake; I think I would have taken Neil's approach with this (but that is a product of my personality).
  16. You might be setting yourself up for disappointment. I would argue he provided all of us closure on Saturday, August 1, 2015. The rest of his time was private. While I do not think all of his lyrics were brilliant and he was far from the best drummer ever, he WAS a major contributing force to a band whose music had a gargantuan effect on me as a person and a musician. RIP Neil. Thank you for creating music that we can enjoy for as long as we get to be here. Let us all be grateful that he made music for us to find pleasure in.
  17. Ouch! All the best there. I suspect having this type of brain tumor isn't fun.
  18. +1 on the cancer explaining the silence. I suspect that he had the same issues that were documented with Gord Downie. Maybe we should be grateful we didn't see THAT.
  19. Assuming my children are asleep, you got it. I will have some wine, which I think is acceptable since Neil seemed to like wine (but probably not to the extent he liked the Macallan). I am listening to the 2-source mix of Vancouver '86 right now. He was pretty energetic on that tour. RIP.
  20. I think I have had about 6 people say something similar to me about it. Maybe it's good to know that people know I am into their music? I also agree that living with glioblastoma as long as he did is impressive. Headlong Flight may be an appropriate song to listen to right now.
  21. ...aaaaaaaaaaaand it's the same tumor that took out Gord Downie. Irony so thick, you could cut it with a knife.
  22. Absolutely this. And now I am off to listen to their music.
  23. I am with George Martin on this: Had the White Album been a single disc, it would be the album that some people think it is. I will take the Black Album on this one for conciseness.
