I underestimated how generously you have to be when seasoning a chicken. The ratatouille was good though; made it into a risotto.

What are you eating Right Now?

Post the recipe. I'd love to make it when the weather turns cool again. Ingredients: 2.5 dl / 8.4 oz of milk (whole or skimmed doesn't matter) 100 g / 0.22 lbs sugar 60 g / 0.13 lbs butter 175 g / 0.38 lbs of chopped dates (without stones) 125 g / 0.27 lbs flour 125 g / 0.27 lbs graham flour 1 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder 1/2 teaspoon of salt One beaten egg 60 g / 0.13 lbs chopped walnuts A loaf pan measuring 22 x 11 x 7 cm. That's 8.66 x 4.33 x 2.75 in inches. Step 1: Heat the oven to 175 degrees celcius, or 347 degrees fahrenheit. Grease the loaf pan with butter. Heat milk, sugar and butter until the butter is melted, stir in the chopped dates and let it cool until lukewarm. Step 2: Mix the two types of flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Make a pocket in the middle and add the milk mixture from step one, egg and walnuts. Stir shortly until the ingredients are mixed. Step 3: Put the cake mix in the loaf pan and bake it for approximately 35-45 minutes. When you can stick a knife in it and it comes clean out without cake sticking to it, it is done (you probably already know that). Let it cool in the loaf pan. That's all there is too it. If you have any questions shoot me a message. Bon apetit :) -
It's funny when you meet people again after many years, especially when there's no hard feelings between you. I had friends I had lost contact with for almost 7 years, and then out of the blue we get in touch, and we start riffing on each other like it was yesterday. Kind of feels like coming home in a way.

My living room is becoming cozy. The shelves have been put up which uncluttered the floor (I hate having stuff on the floor). The stereo is optimised and a friend let me borrow his subwoofer for a few days. Holy smokes what a difference. My B&W speakers are compact sized so they lack the deep bottom end. The end goal is having a subwoofer on each side, perhaps driven by two mono-block amplifiers. I'm dreaming But as of now I'm blasting my music collection :7up:

Listen to music all evening. I borrowed a subwoofer form a friend and oh boy what an upgrade to my stereo :D

Homemade cake bread with dates and walnuts. You slice it and put some butter on it. Yummy! http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_dRQZIWCOOH0/TKCtD4kyXjI/AAAAAAAAB9g/YrpbiwsIeIs/s1600/CCF27092010_00002.jpg (the picture is one I found on the Internet, but it looks just the one I made) -
I'm a huge fan of the movie Downfall so I had high expectations. Sadly, it wasn't that compelling as I had thought.

I plan on having chicken and ratatouille tonight. Probably going to cut a chicken in half, and now I'm thinking about how to season it. I have a bunch of mint and lime I might use.
-
The downside is the food is often lukewarm or cold before I get to eat it, because I have to dress the plate, or often because I do the dishes before I eat. After dinner it's couch-time :D

Can't find my bike helmet. I can't get out on my road bike until I have a helmet, and I can't afford one at the moment.

Genetic counselling regarding "cancer gene"
The Analog Grownup replied to toymaker's topic in Random Samples
Sorry about your wife. I can understand why you're feeling indifferent. That's a tough dilemma. I would probably like to know so I could better my chances of a better health. My family on my father's side has a history of colon cancer, which I've been tested for. Every second or third year I have to have a colonoscopy done, unless I notice changes when I'm on the toilet, then I have to be checked sooner. It's not something I like to think about, and a colonoscopy is not something I look forward too at all. My grandmother had colon cancer and survived, my father got it and died. So the thought of cancer is never far away, but I'd rather know if I have it so I can be treated when the changes of cure is highest. I don't know if that's the same with your situation, but I hope early diagnosis can leave you with greater change of cure, should you be so unfortunately. Seeing what cancer does when it has its grip on a person, leaves me knowing that if I ever got it that bad, I would say my goodbyes and end it myself. Damn, old sores still bleed. -

Extremely slow people in traffic. If you know where you're going, then go! Often I see drivers coming in and out of parking lots, or from intersections, and they creep forward in a snail's pace almost stalling the engine. Come on, you can't be that timid and be allowed to drive. -
I didn't know so I had to consult with Google. The answer is no. A quick search tells me we have around 4 ships, so a handful of ships I would say. If Russia wants to invade all we can do is have beet soup and vodka ready. Edit: We have NATO and so far a good relationship with USA, so yeah, hopefully that doesn't change :D

I had an ice cream.

Is that an actual picture of what you made? It looks delicious. Too hot here to cook these days. Another reason to look forward to the end of summer and cooler weather. Yes it is :). I have a habit of taking pictures of food I like, or is presented well, for inspiration. People probably think I'm weird when I do it at restaurants, and sure occasionally one or two ends up on Instagram ;)

I think it's because laughter is sometimes a defence mechanism. If used as such then suddenly the dam can burst.
