  1. Signals.. Loved that Tama sound.. Very natural sounding superbly recorded.
  2. Love half the world, colour of right, resist, totem.. The rest I can leave well alone.
  3. Bonkers.. I'm a better player than Geddy and I haven't played for decades!

    Happy trails

Can't get past that bass drum sound that is used on the remix! Shocking and way too loud! The first version at least had passion and a certain intensity despite being sonically poor.
  5. There is no way he can get those notes.. Overuse of his vocal cords and age will see to that. He does amazingly well to even try. I don't agree with Neil that Geds voice has maintained well over the years, citing Robert plant as an example, he may hit the note by using various vocal techniques but he has no control over them. But to even attempt hitting them in his early 60s is creditable.
  6. Headache.. More complete songs, some have great melodys, and better crafted.
  7. Maybe it's me but he looks not in the best of health. I hope I'm wrong.
  8. Snakes and arrows for production, vaportrails original for passion and full on energy. Not heard SA remix, VP I simply can't get past that bass drum!
  9. Millions? No..but I for one will buy it..headache was a great album..
  10. "like a spiral sea unending" Cygnus x1
  11. What about in hemispheres.." I have memory and awareness.." some really great textures and sounds in that intro.. The Oberheim doing it's thang!
  12. Signals was the first time I thought that something had changed..from MP to this album I thought that something was wrong with his voice. Yet he bounced back with GuP, with a stronger more aggressive tone.
  13. Would have killed for one of those white jumpers Neil wore for that video..managed to get something that looked a little like it..if he's still got it,and would like to donate to my wardrobe,I'd still rock it!
  14. Jnoble earlier in the thread.
  15. Geds voice is just fine, his problem starts when he tries to sing songs from 20 years ago. New songs will be in a key that suits him. I for one can't wait!
  16. Geddy was probably in denial.. As indeed a few of us were!
  17. "Happy Birthday Neil...I'm sure he'll login today and see all this" Yeah right..
  18. "Rupert Hine gets a lot of flack for his trebely tinny poppy sounding records with Rush and that's certainly a fair point but he WAS good at coaxing good melodies and song flow from the boys. I can't think of a single song on Presto or RTB where it sounded like a disjointed frankenstein of song parts scotch taped together with shoehorned lyrics." Both his albums are recorded very flat, but his mixes are excellent. Everything is clear and seperate, bass light yes, but strong enough as a producer to stamp his sound on the records. The guitars occupy to much of the soundscape, sounding so huge that it's hard to get anything over it, combine it with Geddy's bass and busy drums you get the mess that you hear on some records!
  19. I know I go on about it but it's shocking.. What possessed him to think that a bass drum should sound and sit in the mix like that! Possibly the worst drum sound ever created.
  20. Some good songs, played with passion, but poorly mixed. Then it was ruined further by the Botrill remix.
  21. They've been through way too much to fall out, sure thing that there is a bit of disappointment between Geddy and Neil, but they'll be okay. No more music though. That ship has sailed.
  22. The thing about the "in the air tonight" fill is you forget about the bass drum beat before each 'Tom' hits.. Makes it a little more interesting! Collins was a superb drummer, his early genesis work was up there with the best. Whatever you think of his pop career, and I think he wrote some great pop songs, his stature as a drummer should not be under estimated.
  23. My favourite group of albums.. Couldn't last that long without listening to them however!
