  1. Exactly! Not to mention knowing how Geddy spends his days off in between shows in order to deliver the performance he does! Not that your average Joe is aware of that, but I am! Yes, when it is called the Clockwork Angels Tour, you should really appreciate everything not on the album as icing on the (oh so delicious) cake. I guess I can KIND of understand that because I know lots of other bands go on tour to promote their new album and play maybe 3 songs off of it. People probably go in expecting as much out of Rush. You are 100% dead on, thats exactly what it felt like for me, standing in between a group of people in the waiting room. I also heard a bunch of complaining on my way out about various things and it REALLY struck a nerve.
  2. I attended the show last night, second time seeing it after last year in Newark,NJ. The band was on fire, and just as last year, I was astounded by Geddy's vocals. Video recordings really don't do it justice. Couple of flubs, Neil on TSOR being the most amusing, amazing recovery though. I was very happy to receive the alternate setlist than I saw last time. The biggest difference, however, was the audience. What gives guys? This was clearly not an 80's audience, as I could tell from the first half of the set, but to make matters worse, this was apparently also not a CA audience either. I saw LOTS of people sitting down, bored, during all of the new material, even Headlong Flight! A few people around me actually left after The Anarchist, I believe, and never returned! The crowd came to life during the bit hits, naturally, but even that was tame compared to Newark. I had a great time, no doubt, but the audience really created a buzzkill of sorts for me, as much as I tried to not let it bother me. Anyway........just had to get that off my chest. Here are a few pics I managed to take! http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000498_zps607016b0.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000504_zps10092b51.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000508_zps1479ab8e.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000511_zpsf056aaef.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000520_zpsf6826e34.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000522_zps6f5ea761.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000526_zpsa03ed236.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000542_zpsb6d66294.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000558_zpsba726f2b.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000574_zps32d8b5e7.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000580_zps30979443.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000590_zps70384bc0.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000598_zpsdeec0a63.jpg
  3. SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN CLOCKWORK ANGELS TOUR YET!!! The way I look at it, I got to see pretty much all of CA this tour, MP last tour, and pretty much all of S&A on that tour. Also, between CA and TM pretty much all of Power Windows. That alone is pretty awesome to me, considering my first tour was 2008. I'd be happy to see any whole album but at this point, I'd say Presto or Hold Your Fire I think. I feel there's a lot of good stuff on Presto, I've been getting into it a lot more lately, and I think it could translate REALLY well live. Hold Your Fire I've seen a bunch of songs off of, would mainly want it for Prime Mover/Lock & Key/Open Secrets.
  4. 5. Limelight 2008, and man what a great first impression that song made for me.
  6. Man, this is really great stuff! Geddy sounds freakin awesome too!
  7. Two classic rock artists, similar music, both bands snubbed for the nomination for so long, both finally getting the nom this year, and... BOTH GETTING INDUCTED, TOO? Unlikely. They like to space these artists out a bit. A little rock, a little pop, a little hip-hop, etc. As it is, it seems odd that Rush and Heart both got in in the same year; they also have similar music. Fair enough. Just seems like a silly unspecified criteria though.
  8. Yeah, I don't personally care if Deep Purple got in, I was just kind of surprised compared to the other choices is all. My opinion of the HOF remains unchanged, whether Rush are in or not, because of things like this. Why was it unlikely that both Rush and DP get in the same year? They were the top 2 choices on the ballot IMO. LosingIt—are they really announcing dates tomorrow?
  9. Vapor Trail Cut To The Chase Chain Lightning The Big Wheel (pyro on "playing with fire..." in the chorus) Face Up (mini drum solo opportunity) We Hold On Different Strings (extended solo/cool outro) Losing It Peaceable Kingdom Take A Friend (lots of change up/improv similar to how they play Working Man live)
  10. I definitely prefer Spirit of Radio over Subdivisions due to the energy and vibe, but I also agree with the previous poster: I prefer it later in the set. My favorite opener, however, is without a doubt Limelight.
  11. I had all but given up hope on a CA album cover I sent to Newark, NJ. It would have been 2 weeks since the show tomorrow and I JUST GOT IT!!! They all signed it! This is the coolest thing ever! Getting this framed ASAP. Thank you guys so much for the info on how to do this!
  12. Wow. Very cool then! Will definitely pick it up. But The Trees, Natural Science and Bravado weren't played on Time Machine? Either way definitely getting this, thanks!
  13. Was wondering about this....do the transcriptions include entire songs or just parts? If its just parts is it the same thing as the pdf that came with the dvd?
  14. Just one song. 2112 in its entirety.
  15. QUOTE (TheAccountant @ Oct 23 2012, 02:24 PM)Somebody else mentioned hoping they come back around and play SPAC next year. I 2nd that motion. Thirded! My favorite place to see them, and also the closest!
  16. Newark, NJ: Rush show #4 for me. First saw Rush on Snakes & Arrows 2008, then one on each leg of the Time Machine Tour. I am 22. Got to the arena with some time to spare. Bought my shirt. My girlfriend and I got to our seats and I was immediately regretting trying floor seats for the first time. We were about 25th row back. The view looked great until other people got to their seats and we realized we weren't really going to be able to see . I had been waiting a year and a half for this and I was pretty bummed. Anyway... I had already seen the setlist, I knew which songs to expect, no surprises there. What I had not done is watch any videos of the show. I was actually concerned about Geddy's vocal abilities, having read all these articles about Rush possibly retiring soon, Geddy saying this would be the toughest tour yet for him, etc. I had also read a few folks saying he was sounding good this tour. Thus, I went in indifferent as to what to expect. I think it was about halfway through The Big Money, and then further verified in Force Ten and the rest of the show, Geddy sounds absolutely AMAZING this tour. Hands down better than on Time Machine and I'd say on par with S&A. I was absolutely blown away by his vocal (and bass!) performance the ENTIRE night. Set 1: Highlights of Set 1 for me would have to be the Analog Kid, the whole thing, not just the absolutely epic guitar solo by Alex., and also Where's My Thing?, which isn't one of my favorite instrumentals by Rush, by I've always liked it. I thought it was fantastic the way they changed it up. Oh, and also Middletown Dreams, which was on my bucket list and I never expected to actually get to see it live. Loved it. Set 2: WOW. All of the Clockwork Angels material was performed FLAWLESSLY and even exceeds the studio versions by a mile thanks to the live strings, Geddy nailing the vocals as mentioned, and the fact that it sounds like they've been playing these songs as long as Moving Pictures! I absolutely LOVED the following: -Finally seeing Pyro (fire!) at a Rush show! The previous 3 I had seen were a no go on the fire. -The video work, especially on Clockwork Angels, absolutely beautifully done! -Rain lighting effect on the Wreckers -The outro to the Wreckers -Headlong Flight -Wish Them Well was actually AWESOME live! I like the song and wished it would have been 7COG instead going in, but it was fantastic live. -YYZ with strings. Absolutely beautiful. Added a nice twist and I honestly can't it out of my head since hearing it. -Red Sector A, I never cared for this song much but it is SOOOOOOO much better live -Finally seeing the Grand Finale live, with the added bonus of Alex doing a crazy solo! The hits made the audience really come alive for the last half hour of the show, you could tell they were all waiting for them. It made them that much better in my opinion, everyone went NUTS moreso than usual. Neil launched a T-shirt right in my direction, had I been two rows up more it would have been mine. In conclusion. The show EXCEEDED my expectations. I left the place absolutely amazed, like every time, only this time more so. I was especially proud of Geddy for his vocal performance and left wondering, if you played a recording of any song from this show to someone who has never heard of Rush and asked them to guess how old the vocalist is, what would they say? Unbelievable. In conclusion, another show in the pocket for Rush. I very much hope to catch them on another leg (I hope!) of this tour and will absolutely avoid floor seats from now on. Lesson learned. Here are a few of the pics I managed to get, some better than others: http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000319_zpse89483be.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000326_zps793f5b3c.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000328_zps0a13416f.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000337_zpsfbfa7483.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000356_zpscefaf143.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000362_zps2af640c0.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000383_zpsa63c6c1b.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000416_zps8c8cf7fd.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000419_zpsc3c229ba.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000444_zps1781537e.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000467_zps8f9458da.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/fictionalfallacy/P1000468_zps22b83fec.jpg
  17. Hmmm...I guess the only thing I consistently do the day of a Rush show is that I listen to Rush on the ride to the show, and then after the show I drive home in silence. It sounds kind of weird but after the show I do NOT want to hear any recordings of Rush, or any music for that matter. I just let it all soak in and replay in my head. I usually go a few days to a week with no music. When I do start listening to music again its Rush, and usually I listen exclusively to the songs they played at the show over and over for a while. Then, sadly knowing I won't be seeing them for a long time, I move on to other music. Might get on a kick of some other band, but give it about a month and I'm back on Rush, realizing there is no other band in the world that comes close. They are then back in my regular rotation and all is back to normal.
  18. I was just wondering, what do you think is the toughest run of songs that either Geddy, Alex, Neil, or Rush as a whole have endured on more recent tours? This helps to have instrumental background, but feel free to post your thoughts regardless! For me: Time Machine Tour for Neil: All of Moving Pictures, followed by the beastly Caravan, and then into the 8 minute drum solo! Freakin' nuts! That is some serious stamina folks, and thats before taking his age into account. Tom Sawyer Red Barchetta YYZ Limelight The Camera Eye Witch Hunt Vital Signs Caravan Drum Solo Can't speak too much for Geddy and Alex but I'd say an honorable mention for all of them as a whole goes to the end of the second set from R30, which was all pretty much consecutive without any breaks in between whatsoever: La Villa Strangiato By-Tor and the Snow Dog 2112: Overture/Temples/Grand Finale Xanadu Working Man
  19. As much as I hate thinking about when Rush is no longer, I honestly believe they have LOTS of nice live footage they can release. They are probably sitting on it for this very reason. Even stuff they don't know about, it will all surface someday.
  20. I used to have a black Rush shirt with the starman on it I wore like the last two years of high school and first two years of college before I wore it out. Never a peep from anyone. Saw Time Machine for the second time in 2011 in NYC with my girlfriend. We stayed and spent the following day walking around and shopping in the city wearing our new tour shirts. Couldn't walk one block without someone coming up and saying "That show was freaking amazing last night, wasn't it?!", followed by a short 5 minute conversation. Ended up taking up quite a bit of time talking to all these people but my girlfriend and I were enjoying every second of it. We previously never talked to anyone thats even heard of Rush, let alone appreciates them like we do. Its really a great feeling.
