  1. Well it would be a nod to the diehards that's for sure. I'd be all for it.
  2. i don't understand the concept of putting kiss and van halen in the same stratosphere as rush...what a profound insult to the best band ever...
  3. I didn't vote because I don't hear either of these once a day...maybe once every couple of days if anything. Also, I have zero problem with them as lyrics.

    The Wreckers

Argh. It bothers me that they had to jam so many little, unnecessary words into that chorus. This song could be so great.
  5. This would pretty much be the lamest thing ever and make me lose complete respect for the band. I can't imagine just watching the band out there on stage, wailing away on their instruments with Geddy Lee never uttering a single lyric.
  6. Lyrically I like Cold Fire more, but musically The Wreckers feels bigger and more epic.
  7. QUOTE (DistantEarlyRushFan @ Aug 26 2012, 05:22 PM) QUOTE (NYM86 @ Aug 26 2012, 05:00 PM) I can see it on S&A (for the reasons mmm donuts described) as well as T4E, as the guitar solo reminds of Half the World. It's a mandolin solo Okie doke.
  8. Damn you got the album mad late dude.

    For those under 40....

Presto ... I'll go with the title track. Lovely song.
  11. Probably Tom Sawyer, since it's such a ubiquitous song.
  12. Never stop thinking big.
  13. The admins of a Rush message board have "better things to do" than update the board's signage to include the band's new album?
  14. QUOTE (lifeson90 @ Aug 24 2012, 06:53 PM) QUOTE (Gompers @ Aug 24 2012, 06:19 AM) The final cut on S&A, to me, is the weakest, followed by The Larger Bowl. I really dig the rest of the songs immensely, including one of Rush's best instrumentals, TMMB. Hope and Malnar, albeit short, are real treats. what final cut you referring to please? final cut = final song = we hold on
  15. I hope not because The Garden is a pretty wimpy way for a hard rock band to go out.
  16. Well I can't recall any Rush album that hasn't had to grow on me, so yes.
  17. Way too simplistic/impractical a concept. If one doesn't like the note arrangement of a song, I have my serious doubts that turning up the volume will do anything to change that.
  18. QUOTE (RUDT @ Aug 20 2012, 06:02 AM) The Anarchist They should have pick up another one, seriously! Um, why? The Anarchist has a lot of fun riffs that fit very well in the context NBC used them in.
  19. Test For Echo. It's a dense, complex piece with a heavy, modern Rush edge that still holds up musically (lyrically I'll admit it's dated at this point).
  20. What riff exactly? I was watching Yankees Red Sox.

    Anarchist on SNF!

Very nice. I remember them playing snippets of Limelight last football season, but it's good to see people understanding that Moving Pictures is NOT Rush's only album.

    The Garden

QUOTE (mmm_donuts @ Aug 18 2012, 02:02 PM) I hate to be a buzzkill here, but to me it goes on too long and gets too repetitive. It's a nice song and I'll enjoy it in concert, but after the solo I think it starts to sound like a typical sappy power ballad that goes on too long. Geddy's vocals get a little too whiny for me as well. Maybe if they chop 1 1/2 to 2 minutes off the end, then it may be more tolerable. I actually prefer Halo Effect to The Garden because it's shorter and makes it's point without the need to go over the top. Unfortunately for Halo Effect, I have a feeling that it will be like Different Strings...a nice song that gets forgotten. I've been a guitarist for a long time and when I hear the same simple chord progressions over and over I start tuning out. Long time rush fan here, been following TRF for a while...not a hater troll, just giving my honest opinion. Yep...exactly this for me.
