  2. Season 5 Started the other day. Looks like another great season. Can't wait to see what happens.
  3. I don't think I'd like that. Nothing against the instrumentals, but I think it would get monotonous and boring.
  4. Lately I find myself not buying Alex's "Rock Star" act. I know he's up there entertaining the crowd 'cuz that's what we paid to see, but I just don't believe that in every performance of every song he is really feelin' it. There's no way every time he plays the solo in Ghost Of A Chance, or Limelight, or so many songs he's feeling this euphoric "close my eyes and let this emotion flow through my guitar" feeling. I'm just not buying it and I feel it's kinda contrived and that he feels it's what's expected. Same with the "diggin' in so hard it's makin' me squeeze out a big shit just to get this solo right" face. I've seen him practically have in depth conversations with Geddy on stage and still not miss a note not to mention in the hundreds of other vids out there where he's just rippin' something out and is as care free as can be about it. Maybe I'm wrong but he can play anything in their catalog with one arm tied behind his back, and I know he's entertaining the crowd, and I know he's doing his job and all that...But I'd just as soon see him shred and be cool about it than to do the act....Just sayin'.
  5. After going through a list of all films released in 2013, I figured I saw 11 from start to finish. WW Z The Croods Star Trek Oblivion The Hobbit Man Of Steel This Is The End Iron Man 3 We're The Millers Mama Hansel & Gretel ...Whatever it was called. Saw a few older flicks too...some sucked, some were great.
  6. As much as I would love him to be able to reproduce that old stuff without struggling....I would be opposed.
  7. I can't believe how much hate Red Lenses is getting! It seems that everyone on this forum hates Red Lenses. I feel that Red Lenses is actually very good. Am I the only one who feels this way about Red Lenses?
  8. Yes...this sums it up well. I'll trust you guys on this one and not even bother listening then.... Thanks :D-13: I love this song, you should check it out. Absolutely check it out!!!! On a side note...I went back to listen to SD and I honestly didn't recognize it when it started.

  10. I found this to be the case with lots of RUSH songs where there are great parts that don't always work to my liking which results in a song I find to be just OK. Presto and The Pass for example... and come to think if it a good chunk of Presto. That being said I like Presto and loved when it came out and still really enjoy the last 4 songs. As someone else mentioned Alex is playing a bigger role in the sound, the playing is great and Neil is at a real high with the playing and lyrics...most of 'em anyway. I find Anagram to be one of my all time faves lyrically, not for what the song says (what does it say?) but for the words he uses and the anagrams within each verse...that's really unique and interesting. It still sounds really thin and dated as other threads from the same time periods have pointed out but from the PoW to CP era, I'd rank it close to the top.
  11. I like Far Cry...Don't love it though. I thought S&A was good when it came out but have to admit I was disappointed by the lack of up tempo songs. I listened to it a lot hoping it would grow on me but it didn't. With the exception of Working Them Angels I don't listen to it at all.
  12. Just got back from seeing it and I'd have to say I agree with all the criticism of too much action, too much CGI, too much disjointed story telling too much too much too much. Jackson tends to just overdo everything to the point of ridiculously preposterous absurdity, although with that said, I didn't think it was that bad. It had a some good parts, a couple boring parts, some dragging on parts, some too quick parts. It was certainly better than the first installment of the story. When it's all said and done it's a somewhat decent interpretation of the story, but ultimately it's clearly just another Hollywood studio money grab. The LoTR nerd that has been brewing in me for over 35 years was satisfied...with a grain of salt.
  13. I agree with all of this, BUT when each of these albums came out I was still in prime RUSH fanboy mode so at the time of their releases I loved them. I still love P/G, I think it's great PARTICULARLY Red Lenses (which I have on my phone) which was such a deviation from RUSH type songs, but still sounded RUSH (kinda like Vital Signs). As for the other two when you listen to them now they drip of overly saturated, everything done on keyboards 80's smaltz, particularly HYF. The productions were amazing although way too thin and watered down sounding but as for their complexity, they were something else. There is A LOT going in there and to reproduce it live was incredible. I still only own HYF on cassette and vinyl (never got around to getting the CD) and of the three, that's the biggest loser. Sure it has some incredible playing on it, Geddy in particular and the keyboard arrangements are amazing but it's just so thin and sterile sounding and not to mention a huge departure from what RUSH originally was. It was contemporary, that's for sure, listen to just about anything from that time period and that's all you heard was keyboard with an occasional guitar solo (except for the hair bands). Even movie soundtracks were done on synths. Take Driving Miss Daisy for example (c'mon you all know it's a good flick) that soundtrack is almost all synth. So when you compare those albums to the cluttered, fully engorged bombast of todays productions, they sound really dated to a time when music was thin and wimpy, and fake to an extent. It was RUSH staying contemporary to a time when music...well...sorta sucked.

  15. We're The Millers. I liked it 'cuz it didn't endlessly drag on into one adventure after another after another, like The Hangover movies. It had some really funny parts and characters but even though she had some hilarious lines/parts, I just can't see Aniston being anybody other than Rachel from Friends. And her stripping scenes weren't spank worthy in the least...unlike Demi Moore in Striptease who totally was. All in all though it was good.
