  1. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Apr 12 2012, 08:13 PM) To say "kind of a dick move" is an insult to dick moves everywhere.
  2. QUOTE (Earwig2112 @ Apr 10 2012, 05:19 AM) This may have been done, but feel free to list any peculiar habits or behaviors linked to the band - and not just simple stuff such as using 2112 as a pin, or in a user name or Email address (ahem). How about as a phone#? A few years ago, when I activated a new cell phone, they asked me if I had a preference for a phone number. Naturally, I asked if I could get "2112" as the last 4 digits of my cell #. The guy checked in the system and said, "Yes that number combination is available". That made my day, to say the least.
  3. QUOTE (Del_Duio @ Apr 9 2012, 07:24 AM) QUOTE (lifeson90 @ Apr 6 2012, 06:30 PM) based on caravan and bu2b in particular i think there's reason for hope that CA could be what VT was to T4E and or what CP was to RTB............. there's a big big chance this could be an epic album It is interesting how Roll The Bones was meh, and then they came back big with Counterparts (awesome), and then more meh with Test For Echo, and then more awesome with Vapor Trails. S&A was kinda meh for me, so I'll wager Clockwork Angels is gonna rock! Interestingly enough, my opinion is the exact opposite of yours. In that string of albums, I consider CP and VT the weak links while S&A and T4E are the strong ones. Go figure!
  4. QUOTE (snowdog2112 @ Mar 30 2012, 08:12 PM) Actually it looks like Heresy and Face Up were also released as singles off of RTB but didn't chart. That makes six singles from that album. I'm pretty sure Where's My Thing was released as a single as well. In fact, it was the second single after Dreamline and it was released before the album came out.
  5. QUOTE (TheAccountant @ Jan 23 2012, 07:52 PM) How about the way Rush opened their show on the VT tour? Just rip into Tom Sawyer. No 3 stooges, no nothing. Just the lights go down and they start playing. Maybe a little understated but great for me. Actually, they did use the 3 Stooges intro on the VT tour
  6. QUOTE (mmclarney @ Dec 12 2011, 04:30 PM) I just thought that Youtube vid was interesting, with Alex on the golf course, etc. Anyone know where that footage came from? It's one of the bonus features on the BTLS DVD.
  7. You can order it from Rush's website HERE Not sure about NS, but here in Ontario, HMV and Wal-Mart both have it.

    1974 concert cd release

QUOTE (sdaly @ Oct 26 2011, 03:33 PM) Wow they even got the date wrong on the '75 Agora show. "May, 1975". It was actually April 7, 1975. They also spelled "Neal"'s name wrong.
  10. For me, the only other band that comes close to Rush is Tool. My faves in order: Rush Tool Led Zeppelin Def Leppard (81 - 87) Alice in Chains
  11. I voted for Prime Mover, but I would love to hear Territories and The Weapon as well.
  12. Adam Jones plays the national anthem at WWE Summerslam
  13. QUOTE (Akron162 @ Aug 11 2011, 09:30 PM) My father allways hated Jethro Tull, and believe me, if someone knows about 70s rock, its my father, so i get allong with the idea of Jethro Tull being terrible, even if i never listened to them carefully. But i kept reading and hearing here and there that Thick as a Brick is a corner stone of 70s prog rock, side by side with Tarkus, Close to The Edge and Foxtrot. So finally just for couriousness the monday get the album, and now i cant stop listening to it, the song may las 43 minutes, but every time i hear it it seems getting shorter. Sorry dad, you were wrong. Im gonna get Aqualung now. I just discovered TAAB recently as well. And like you said, the song may be 43 mins long but it seems much shorter.
  14. QUOTE (Koby2112 @ Aug 8 2011, 04:56 PM) New to the forum. Love reading all the Rush info. Did any golf fans out there catch the Bridgestone Invitational this past weekend? I only caught the last couple hours, but I swear the commercial breaks had a song playing that sounded distinctly like it could be new Rush. The Geddy-like bassline was unmistakeable. The guitar and drums fit right in too. But definitely not a song I've heard before. Now, I'm NOT saying this is new stuff off the upcoming album, but is it possible?! It was just a little 10 second instrumental snippet, but we all know the Rush sound when we hear it. Probably just some sound-alike band, but it was a great tune and the bass was dead-on with the Geddy sound. What do you guys think? Does anyone still have it on their DVR? If it's not Rush, I'd love to know who it is to check out more of their stuff! Could it have been "My Favorite Headache" possibly?
  15. Honestly, I don't think there are many people in Oz who have even heard of Rush. Not to mention the cost of bringing over the whole production.
  16. Tool Led Zeppelin Def Leppard Alice in Chains The Mars Volta among others...
  17. Whwn the last 4 digits of your cell phone # are 2-1-1-2.
  18. QUOTE (treeduck @ Jul 6 2011, 12:11 AM) QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Jul 6 2011, 12:03 AM) QUOTE (Good @ bad, andrush,Jul 6 2011, 12:59 AM) QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Jul 5 2011, 09:15 PM) I just listened to Tool for the first time today, and they were really good. Maybe my opinion will change over time, but I think DT is better. Tool virgin What did you hear? Check out The Pot, the other tracks I suggested and the OP on the other tool thread, reflection. enjoy tool is a unique band, just ignore the fan base and stuff. Maynard really is a great singer and unique lyricist, Adam jones is a skilled guitarist who adds a lot to the song, JC is a great bassist and brings out a meditative depth to the song and Danny Carrey is one of the best drummers out there. I listened to AEnima. I also have 10,000 Days which I'll listen to tomorrow. Get Lateralus too! (my fave track is on there!) Opiate and Undertow are very good albums. Aenima and 10,000 Days are great albums. Lateralus is a BRILLIANT album.
  19. Too many to choose from, but here are my faves: Lateralus Eulogy Stinkfist The Grudge Rosetta Stoned Third Eye (especially the Salival version)
  20. QUOTE (fledgehog @ Jun 17 2011, 02:46 AM) I should also point out that most of your examples represent a very particular (and very annoying) portion of facebook users. There are probably a couple dozen who are always all over your news feed uploading pictures from their blackberry every 3 minutes, but the rest of them use the site "properly", it's just that their presence is quieter so you don't notice it as much. This is very true. I have about 45 friends on my FB, but my News Feed is dominated by 2 or 3 people.
  21. QUOTE (HigherWater @ Jun 14 2011, 06:15 PM) Surfing Rush tubes in search of some great Peart moments after all the hating that's been going on. This is just amazing. So powerful and fluid. I think this might be Neil at his peak. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMjWK6Tz78M&feature=related I was there! My first RUSH concert. I remember they transitioned from xanadu into Superconductor.

    solo to close?

QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Jun 5 2011, 03:28 PM) That is so crazy... Only if your band has freakin' Neil Peart in it do you close with a drum solo. So was it on the tail end of La Villa Strangiato? Working Man
