  1. I've bought every Rush CD from the UK Newcastle branch of J.G. Windows, which is a tradition I've kept up ever since I bought my first CD player there in '88. Thing was, they had a free 5 CD deal on with every player sold, so ran downstairs like a frisky puppy and grabbed a fistfull of Rush albums. Been so grateful ever since, I like to reciprocate. It's good to support your local store. Trouble is, It's a real bugger when they don't have it in on release day....
  2. This may have been done, but feel free to list any peculiar habits or behaviors linked to the band - and not just simple stuff such as using 2112 as a pin, or in a user name or Email address (ahem). I'll start by admitting to hanging around the fruit and veg in our local store last week. Not very relevant? Well, "Spirit" had just come on the radio and my MP3 player has bad reception inside buildings - apart from one sweet spot next to the fruit and veg that is. So I was forced to pretend to be interested in mangos, pineapples and such like for over 5 minutes, while attracting the attention of a suspicious security guard. Well, what else can you do? Blame British Radio 2 for keep playing a bit of Rush from time to time. Just wish they could've timed it better. Over to you....
  3. Cosy Toes, sorry to hear about your lack of swag. "Dutch Alps", that's a goodun. Take my advice, check list for next gig: 1: T Shirt with "Gimme Some Stick" legend 2: Pair of Falsies That'll do it. Either that or take a small child, reports of sticks being given to 10 year olds in front row at Newcastle. Very philanthropic. Trouble is, you'll have to prise them away from the 10 year old aftrewards and I wouldn't be brave enough to ask the time of day from a Geordie kid.
  4. As the date is 21/12/2010 (as written over the pond), why not give the album of the same name a spin at 12 minutes past nine tonight? It also coincides with the winter solstice for all you New Age types. We had a total eclipse of the moon in the UK today as well, turned it a nice shade of red. Means nothing really , but any excuse to blast out a classic is good enough for me. Happy holidays, Rush fans.
  5. Tricky one this. It does appear that the tour management cos. and all the "legal scalpers" have finally cottoned on to the fact that Rush are hip and they are bent on milking this new cash cow for all that it's worth. I suppose we should be thankful for the cult years. Having said that, if folks couldn't or won't pay they won't come. Supply and demand people. I've paid 60 quid for Newcastle, but only after a lot of thought, we're all poor up the north you know. That's a lot of cash, but: 1: You get over 3 hours which equals 2 x normal gigs. 2: It's Rush (to quote Gene Simmons). The only band I would pay that much for. 3: They are no spring chickens. Could be the last time they cross the pond. 4: I don't go on holiday, so this can be a substitute. When it comes down to it, it's about how much we can afford not to see the guys. It better be a bloody good bash though. In 1979, a mate of mine paid 25 quid to a tout for the Hemispheres tour in the City Hall. That was 10X the ticket price (600 quid in today's prices). He thought it was worth it then and probably still thinks so today. Think I'll start saving for the 2013 tour, just in case.
