  1. It said in the email that the Portland presale starts tomorrow but it's not on the Musictoday page.
  2. Anytime they want to announce the second US leg is perfectly fine.
  3. If you don't mind me asking, will these shows be west or east coast?
  4. An extremely positive, 4 out of 5 star review and people complain because of one line about the second side, which is wholly irrelevant to the album's reputation. Note: I love the second side, but the album has its classic/landmark status even among non-fans because of how perfectly the narrative of the title track dovetails with the band's career to that point. "The Twilight Zone" and "Tears" are great songs, but the album's reissue-worthiness is not changed by the presence of them. It wouldn't matter what's on the second side. Also, Rob Sheffield's two books Love is a Mixtape and Talking to Girls About Duran Duran are both very much worth reading. The guy's knowledge and passion isn't really up for debate.
  5. I have to think the west-coast dates will be in April. They'll be touring around then, and it makes zero sense to fly to LA for the HOF induction and then play dates around that time on the east coast. Personally I hope they play Portland in April as opposed to July or August. That way they'll play the Rose Garden as opposed to the Clark County Amphitheater and the light show won't be completely useless for the first set.
  6. Totally makes sense to play Jones Beach at three different points in the tour.
  7. There's certainly no downside to them being in. Doesn't mean a thing to me personally or change my relationship with the band, but it's only going to raise their cultural cache and expose more people to their music, which is only a positive. A lot of the sarcastic comments about "how great an honor it is to share a prestigious award with [insert pop or rap-leaning act that's inducted but not popular with classic-rock purists]" are pretty hilarious in their closed-mindedness and narrow understanding of the scope of rock music, and these threads make that clear every year.
  8. They're having a sale of 20% off all DVDs, CDs, and blu-rays to celebrate the RRHOF induction, but they don't carry the Snakes & Arrows Live blu-ray, which is the one I need to upgrade, so...
  9. I thought it was pretty thoughtful and honest. He doesn't like them. It happens. He doesn't think they're completely untalented or worthless. The two points I think are objectively untrue are the "rock music would be exactly the same if they never existed" thing and the "the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is actually a measure of anything other than whose publicists Jann Wenner owes favors to" thing. The rest of it is fine.
  10. "Rush sold their longtime fans out by accepting their induction into the Hall of Fame." - a thread on here in a few months, probably.
  11. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Oct 4 2012, 04:00 PM) QUOTE (thizzellewashington @ Oct 4 2012, 07:52 PM) Some of y'all are getting way too up in arms about "Rock and Roll" being used as a stand-in for "Music that has resonated with youth culture since the 1950s." Of course Donna Summer and Public Enemy deserve recognition. They arent even "Rock" - so if they change it to the Pop Music HoF it would make more sense. Right, but their genres were both by some extension outgrowths of rock and influenced rock music that came after them.

  13. Rush gets more exposure every year from the "Who are the biggest snubs" articles everybody runs when they don't get nominated than they will from getting in. It's better for them not to be in.
  14. Likeclockwork said a while ago that they're working on booking US dates next year, and he's never been wrong about "insider" stuff before. EDIT: Here's the thread http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?show...dpost&p=2666471
  15. To everyone making "LOL WOULDN'T IT MAKE SENSE TO DO [ridiculous thing making fun of people complaining about the setlist]" threads, the game is over. This is how it's done.
  16. QUOTE (snowdogged @ Sep 13 2012, 07:59 PM) QUOTE (thizzellewashington @ Sep 13 2012, 10:50 PM) The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has more relevance than the Grammys. If anyone is a true rock fan then they know that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has no relevance whatsoever. That was my point.
