QUOTE (savagegrace26 @ May 26 2012, 12:52 AM)QUOTE (Mr. Henry Gale @ May 25 2012, 10:56 PM) QUOTE (presto123 @ May 24 2012, 08:01 AM) Why would RR let Japan get it early? They would just be shooting themselves in the foot with all this "tight lid" stuff they have been doing. I don't see it. Agreed. Especially when you consider all other Japanese retail outlets list a June 12th release, this doesn't add up. Definitely a typo. Aus is the first place to get this on June 8th and that's because they do releases on Fridays and the 8th is the weekend before the international release date. I still predict a 5th-6th leak day. Someone will leak a stocked retail copy as they are about to release in Aus. I work in a retail outlet that does sell music. What would be the best way for me to get an early copy? Why can't you wait until the official release date?
  2. Star Wars always brings mixed emotions out of me. Such a GREAT concept, GREAT potential, but held back by pockets of obscenely bad film dialogue and merchandising schemes. Much joy in watching every battle scene, every use of the Force......and great rage when my asshole brother came home and told me all the spoilers in The Empire Strikes Back...... In spite of all the negatives, I can still watch every episode with joy and appreciation. I can watch Luke battle Vader and Palpatine every single day, and still feel chills.....
  3. Hemispheres Intro (instrumental), leading into Far Cry. There. Discussion is OVAH.....
  4. And here I thought it was an audience of people talking to each other in low, droning voices during the speaker's long pauses....

QUOTE (Gilbertk @ May 24 2012, 05:34 AM)I'm not sure why Japan is getting it THIS early...... It's due to the recent seismic activity deep under the Pacific, all along the Asian rim. The tectonic plates are extremely active, and they're expanding the International Dateline. As a result, Japan is more ahead of us than ever before......
  6. QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ May 22 2012, 11:45 AM) QUOTE (Workaholic Man @ May 21 2012, 05:11 PM) QUOTE (Gompers @ May 21 2012, 11:44 AM) Jerry Garcia is still dead. SNL should announce this on Weekend Update...... "Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still valiantly holding on in his fight to remain dead!" That's three "Old Guy" points to you for referencing it and five for me for quoting it from memory! And when the late Charles Rocket tried the same line on his 1980 version of Weekend Update, the audience booed him....

I'm really excited for this now! But my girlfriend is about 5 and a half feet tall.. will her whole experience be ruined? She can stand on the seat and be the same height as everyone else Until the asshole that makes $5.50 an hr tells her to get down Awe, that's not really fair. Regardless of what the guy makes, he has a job to do and keeping people from standing on chairs, falling off and then suing the venue, the promoter, the band AND the manufacturer of the chair ... is his job. How about "Dime store security guard" Is that better ? I won't even rate the asshole at the St. Paul venue (Xcel Energy Center) as a "dime-store". He wasn't worth a dime. I was TWO rows off of the floor, aisle seat, facing the stage. It was intermission, and I had to pee, so I stepped down onto the floor and went 'round the corner to the near-empty men's room. On the way back, the creep hasseled me about using the "wrong bathroom", and that I was to use the proper one....about 25 rows above me, way far away. I just stared at him for three full seconds, turned away and said, "Oh Jesus f***ing Christ...." What a douchebag....
  8. I have a shot at getting 2nd or 3rd row, but the ticket is on the far end of the section....like seat 3 or 5. Is that too far away, or is it still a great show?
  9. The babies are getting BIG! Five peregrine falcon chicks, and they're ALWAYS HUNGRY..... They get a regular smorgasbord.....mice, pigeons, sparrows, even a blue jay (yesterday). We suspect that they enjoyed some good rabbit, too.....(we found a rabbit ear)..... The mother feeds then at dawn and dusk...and several times inbetween, of course..... http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff295/unk2112/20120521_19-19-15.jpg

  11. QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ May 21 2012, 08:41 AM)I also finally got around to watching Iron Man 2 on blu-ray the other day. I loved it as well. Great stuff. Sadly, I forgot about Iron Man 2 the day after I saw it. I found it annoying and only mildly entertaining in parts. Iron Man, Thor, and The Avengers are my Blu-ray selections. Captain America......maybe.....
  12. Tom Hagen: You know how they're going to come at you? Michael: The meeting's in Tessio's territory.......where I'll be safe. Tom Hagen: I always thought it would be Clemenza. Michael: No, it's a smart move. Tessio was always smarter.
  13. QUOTE (Gompers @ May 21 2012, 11:44 AM) Jerry Garcia is still dead. SNL should announce this on Weekend Update......
  14. Unless Robin Williams appears on Madden's video game cover, we have nothing to worry about......
  15. "But just because we're nice doesn't mean you should like our music." - Geddy This may be the wisest bit of advice ever given.
  16. QUOTE (Godeater2112 @ May 19 2012, 08:06 AM)People deserve to jump up and down and yell and scream and dance if they want. This is called a "rock concert". People behind you also have the "choice" to stand or sit. I like to stand for the entire Show, too. I hate sitting down for a rock concert. However, nowhere on the ticket is it written that we "deserve" or are "entitled" to stand, dance, jump around....and block other people's view. We have no "right" to do it. It ultimately comes down to working it out with the people around you. If people are sitting and they protest, then you have to work it out. If they don't protest, then so be it. People also have the choice to call security and have them deal with those of us who stand all Show long. And we all know that Security doesn't like "troublemakers".....
  17. QUOTE (troutman @ May 18 2012, 10:10 PM) I will stand when I want to no matter what. A few bad apples are not going to ruin my Concert. There are idiots at concerts and at any other public event. Those of us who are respectful and considerate will not accept being put in the same class with the mindless fools! And when the people sitting behind you are calling YOU the "bad apple"? What happens when you're the one being disrespectful and inconsiderate?
  18. QUOTE (CrossedSignals @ May 18 2012, 03:59 PM) I'd say Moving Pictures, just because it's Rush's most popular album and you have the greatest chance of hooking him on Rush. I agree. Either Moving Pictures or a compilation of their best stuff. I wouldn't give him any of the extreme stuff, like Cygnus X-1 or By-Tor.......
  19. QUOTE (D3strukt @ May 18 2012, 01:35 PM)Wow, I was unaware that most Rush fans were unaware of Tony. He has been the Keyboard technician since AFTK. He's what makes everything work. Look him up on Facebook. I was unaware that Rush fans were supposed to know who Tony is. I don't know any of the tech's, roadies, or stagehands. Does that mean I'm not a "true Rush fan".....?
  20. QUOTE (wilb1972 @ May 18 2012, 09:25 AM)The fervour for Rush was very nearly demonstrated in tragic fashion in Detroit in January. A month previously - December 3 to be exact - 11 fans had been killed in Riverfront Coliseum in Cinncinnati when the crowd rushed the gates at a Who concert. Good article, although it got the Cincinnati venue wrong. It was the Coliseum, not the Stadium. Good bands like Rush actually care about their fans' welfare. Other bands couldn't care less. Sometimes, I think they like seeing the insane crush up front...the borderline chaos and anarchy.....
  21. QUOTE (ioc @ May 17 2012, 06:44 PM) Who? Oh, you mean the "Jump" guys. Didn't they die. Old dysfunctional bands never die. They just fade away into reality series.....until no one remembers who they are.....
  22. QUOTE (greyfriar @ May 17 2012, 07:51 AM)Escape??? At a Rush show??? Indeed. I never anticipate having to "escape" anything at a Rush Show. Being retired from drinking, I'll get a large Coke (or maybe a beer) before the Show starts, and that's it. Maybe get a Coke at intermission. I only leave during a song if it's absolutely necessary......like if I REALLY have to pee......

  24. QUOTE (HowItIs @ May 17 2012, 04:24 AM) I read somewhere that Rush has a rider in their contract that there will be no standing aka Festival seating. I'm sure that the tragedy in Cincinnati is the reason. Well, the Who tragedy was over 30 years ago. It's a valid reason in the sense that bands and their promoters have become more concerned with fan safety over the years. The Who concert was the "Big One", but there have been plenty of other concert incidents that have awakened venues to safety problems. I think that today's concert venues use assigned seating primarily because festival seating has become obsolete in many cases. Let's face it, a lot of rock fans are older and not all that hip about going into a mosh pit or fighting all evening for a front row view. Older fans often prefer assigned seating, where they can stand or sit as they please. And when they bring their children, assigned seating becomes even more important.
