Gregg Allman Cancels Tour Dates due to Health Issues

Recommended Posts

Another 69 year old musician having a rough go.

Let's hope the man gets better during this time off.

Met this guy at 1am in Memphis at the Peabody hotel near closing time of the center bar.

Just having a drink by himself. Had a nice chat, good guy...get better man

I saw this in the news. :( I hope he is ok after some rest. I used to play my "Eat a Peach" and "Brothers and Sisters" vinyls until they practically wore out.

It's so odd to look back and realize that was around 1973- The Allman Brothers were huge and I had never even heard of a small Toronto band called Rush . .

:( Sad news.

The article in that link is very vague, as far as what the health problems are...I know he had to take some time off from performing altogether in 2008, when he was suffering from hepatitis.

I hope he can get healthy enough to tour again, or just to live longer. He has given so very much music to the world over the past...50 years, going all the way back to the Allman Joys.

I noticed the first performance he plans to make it back for, the Laid Back Festival, is October 29th- the anniversary of his brother's death. :rose:

Gregg will be 69 on December 8th.

How long ago was that, DS?

All the best Gregg.

The loss of Warren Hayes and Derek Trucks from the Allman's, must have been a huge blow for him.

Amazing that he has kept going.

Music is obviously his life.

Indeed...he has always had just a ton of music in him.

Mid 90's or early 90's?? My brain is telling me either a show at the Orpheum or Beale Street Music Festival.

I was not at the show, I was just downtown that night, as 1 does after leaving the Beale street bars
