I haven't seen The Last Waltz in ages, and my mind is a bit mixed up...but she made an appearance in that with them as well, didn't she?

Yes in the film She is only seen doing Coyote. but in the full show bootleg and soundtrack. She did Coyote, Color and Light and Furry Sings the Blues.

I love Furry as well...

"Pawn shops glitter like gold tooth caps

In the grey decay, they chew the last few dollars

Off old Beale Street's carcass

Carrion, and mercy...

Blue and silver sparkling drums

Cheap guitars, eyeshades and guns

Aimed at the hot blood of being no one

Down and out in Memphis, Tennessee

Ghosts of the dark-town society

Come right out of the bricks at me

Like it's a Saturday night-

They're in their finery

Dancing it up and making deals

Furry sings the blues

Points a bony finger at you

And says "I don't like you",

And everybody laughs

As if it's the old man's standard joke

But it's true- we're only welcome

For our drink and smoke..."

There are other really obvious bands I could add to the incredible-album-run lists...like The Beatles, for example. But I've been trying to think of things a bit off the beaten path, a little less obvious.

these lists are hard. Especially when my lists shift constantly, lol

I'm surprised that neither one of you guys has included Fleetwood Mac.

Or maybe you have, I don't know...but not recently.

I've been to a couple of storied venues like that, but never the Beacon. I've been to the Tower Theater in Philly, the DAR Constitution Hall and the old Capitol Ballroom, both in DC...

I should make a bucket list of theaters I want to visit; places where I need to see a show. The Beacon Theater is definitely on it.

By the way...listening to Hejira now. Couldn't resist.

(And I'm on my lunch break, so I can get away with it. Haha!)

Might have to knock the last of those six Joni albums off of the outstanding run. Most of Don Juan's Reckless Daughter is great, but I just listened to it this evening, and...Paprika Plains makes it drag. A whole album side; 16 minutes plus.

Without that song, it would be a brilliant 42-minute album- so it would not have needed to be a double.

That's the song that drags it down for me too

I was reminded of why I usually skip that song.

If the very long instrumental mid-section were a little more eventful, I might not feel that way about it. But yeah, it drags.

Today is the anniversary of Jeff Buckley's birth- November 17, 1966.

I have a hard time imagining him getting older...but wonder a lot about what he would have done.

I still think Grace sounds like a warm up for something grand. As phenomenal as it is, you can just sense it was only a modest start!

It's such a sadness that his band had to finish off the second album without him. I'm very glad they did, but still.

You and I, which closes the first disc, is one of the most haunting things I've ever heard. And that's all because of Jeff.

New wave is something that generally turns me off, really...but I'd still be willing to check them out because of the other two reference points, there.
