Clockwork Angels ROCKS. Oh, boo hoo, production values! Wall of noise! Brickwall! Too much layering! Sniffle, sniffle, cry me a river. The album rocks. Yeah, but Neil isn't playing like he used to. Boo frickin' hoo. I'm so sorry he turned 60 and can't play up to your standards. :codger: :codger: :codger: :codger: :codger: :codger: :codger: :codger: :codger: my rockin' Soul is buried in a wall of headache inducing mush CA MUST DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like a wall of static. The guitars are buried. The drums are muffled. The only thing that really sticks out is the bass and it's got so much gain that it just adds to the distortion. Headlong Flight is a good song but it would improve greatly if it were produced by someone who doesn't have a tin ear. Hyperbole. We're in a hyperbole war. The guitars are buried? All you hear is a faint guitar going "I've been buried alive! Please someone help me"? The guitars stand out loud and clear to me. Best Guitars Ever! Best album Rush has done in 20 years. No question in my mind. In my opinion.

Narps
CA easy. For the sh*t production alone if nothing else... :) But Narps . . . they rock! They rock, man! Guitars! Heavy guitars! Headlong Flight!! Headlong Flight!! Where on Hold Your Fire is anything remotely like Headlong Flight?I get that and less than a year ago I would have voted for HYF long before now but I really think I like it better than CA. The opening 8 anyway... Whereas you get 11 songs of pure hard prog :haz: (BU2B2 doesn't count)Which about 10 are really good...Wish Them Well isn't that great I see what you did. Still bitter I see about CP's ousting... :)
LedRush
RIP Counterparts. You put up a hell of a fight last round. I voted for CP for much of the day to give you false hope. My god it was worth it.

But I was listening intently to the title track this morning, and oh, my...there's some really good stuff going on there. The rhythm section during the verses actually reminded me faintly of...Cygnus X-1 ( :o I know! But it really did). About in the same way that the verse during Headlong Flight is reminiscent of Bastille Day.

LedRush
You gotta figure that at least 8 of the votes against CoS last time were actual votes, and not tactical ones like Bowl-City's futile yet entertaining attempt to save Counterparts. If you add in some CP-haters who naturally would go against CoS next and some CA defenders, I suspect it will take at least 16 votes to kill an album not named CoS. I'd prefer it to be HYF or PoW (whatever my contractually obligated voting says), but if it's CA, that is better than killing the beauty of CoS. But as the anti-hard rock brigade has been caucusing for weeks, I think people who would rather see PoW, HYF or CA go should get together, or concede that the forces of evil are too great in the world to overcome.
