RUSHHEAD666
From metal to 80's New Wave! Don't cha love it? I just picked up the new Spandu Ballet Greatest Hits album. It has three new songs! Some would say that this band is a "one hit wonder." Well I suppose they are but so far a lot of their songs on this new cd are excellent. I actually think it's safe to say that Spandu Ballet could be METAL! The drummer has a double bass!!!! TOMMY LEE? Check it out! I think they aged well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-ykE6WkZbI
Babycat
To be honest, I've only ever heard one or two songs from them.
RUSHHEAD666
To be honest, I've only ever heard one or two songs from them. Haha! Probably "True" and "Gold."I asked my wife to go with me to the show in January and she declined. "They only have one hit, True, no thanks, I'll pass. So I said to myself "Fukk it." I got front row balcony. Alone. What a perfect band to see by myself. Depressing fun times ahead. LOL

H. P. L.
If there's one band I hate more than Spandau is Duran Duran. They made the 80s hell for me, from a musical point of view. I hate hate hate hate hate them! Metallica's "Kill 'em all" was always directed to them in my personal opinion.

1-0-0-1-0-0-1
I like death/speed/growl/whatever metal on occasion (Meshuggah and Animals As Leaders are fun to listen to), but Spandau Ballet might be too much for me.

Citizen of the World
Couldn't stand much of that music back then but now that I'm older, and senility is setting in, I'm starting to enjoy some of the 80's pop. Even some disco
circumstantial tree
I loved and still love "True". They also appear and perform in "Do they know it's Christmas?" (1984).

Tony Hadley's voice is still EXCELLENT. Another performer from that 80's genre, Martin Frye of ABC, has also aged very well and still has a helluva set of pipes. Check out the origins of the name "Spandau Ballet". ;) Surprisingly grisly for a pop band!
greyfriar
I'm in love with a lot of 80's stuff, as well as the hard, and the heavy. In the pop segment there were some great bands like Men Without Hats, Ultravox, FGTH or A Flock Of Seagulls around back then and they weren't as schmaltzy as Spandau Ballet. Oldfield made some good pop albums in the early 80's, too.
RUSHHEAD666
Eighties pop was awesome! I can say this as i wasnt there. And modern pop sucks donkey butt. I've written a thread or two on The Outfield on here. Not sure if you know of them but The Outfield hit two home runs in my opinion. Get "Play Deep" and "Bangin'" 80's pop is great but I must confess that Duran Duran is very overrated. The only Duran Duran song I love is the James Bond song "A View To A Kill." Another band you would like is The Power Station. Featuring the Taylor brothers from Duran Duran. Tony Thompson on drums and Robert Palmer on vocals. Great stuff! Even some disco I hope you are younger than me. That would mean I got through it without having a fondness for Donna Summer. Edited to add: Just checked and see that I am eight years older than you. That was a close call. Edited December 16, 2014 by Lorraine
