Turbine Freight Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Watched Butterfly In Shades Of Grey today, a goodie from the later series. Shatner is a hammy baddie, great fun to watch. 2
lerxt1990 Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 After a long Columbo hiatus I watched Death Lends A Hand. One of the best of the series and Robert Culp is always excellent in these. Robert Culp is the Mona Lisa of Columbo. ALL of his are OUTSTANDING. 1
Turbine Freight Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 After a long Columbo hiatus I just watched Double Exposure & Murder,Smoke & Shadows. Both excellent! 2
greyfriar Posted March 14, 2019 Posted March 14, 2019 It's been a while since I put an episode on. Time to dig out the cigar box! 2
OldRUSHfan Posted March 14, 2019 Posted March 14, 2019 I used to smoke cigars...My BFF Dave Plummer got me into it in a big way... I smoked my last cigar, a Cohiba[?] the week of his funeral. 1
lerxt1990 Posted September 21, 2020 Posted September 21, 2020 I just watched Dagger of The Mind again, and it was great fun. 1
lerxt1990 Posted September 21, 2020 Posted September 21, 2020 Anyone else remember this? "NBC Mystery Movie" was the title of an "umbrella series" broadcast from 1971 to 1977. Three shows debuted under that umbrella in '71: "Columbo," "McCloud," and "McMillan & Wife." In the fall of 1972, they were all moved to Sunday nights, and joined in rotation by "Hec Ramsey."
lerxt1990 Posted September 21, 2020 Posted September 21, 2020 There were two things different: Columbo had a format that was really cool - crime in plain view - his figuring it out second... and NBC having this program which was multiple programs... neat. 2

I had a huge crush on Susan St. James, so I was always hoping it was a McMillan and Wife week! 1

Your_Lion Posted September 22, 2020 Author Posted September 22, 2020 Tonight: An Exercise IN Fatality - GREAT episode with Robert Conrad! Some highlights... https://columbophile...comment-page-1/ Great episode, and contains one of the few moments where Columbo genuinely looses his cool, and snaps at the killer. It's always a great episode when there's that kind of personal connection, where you can tell Columbo can't stand the killer. Just like the flip side, it's great in Any Old Port in the Storm, when you can tell Columbo actually really likes Donald Pleasance. Those sorts of things always make for a good Columbo cat and mouse game 1

Lorraine Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8TUSsqWCTM I never saw this! Brilliant!  :clap:I didn't watch the clip, but I do remember him winning some award for the show and him saying, "I'm trying to figure out some way to appear humble." Is this the one?
The Cat 3 Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Watching Columbo right now... Season 2, Episode 2 - The Greenhouse Jungle (15 October 1972) 2
The Cat 3 Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Next episode on now... Season 2, Episode 3 - The Most Crucial Game (05 November 1972) 3
zepphead Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 It's on here generally on a Sunday afternoon. Before Covid struck the family would all gather at my wife's parent's house for Sunday dinner and would all end up watching it.It's funny how, no matter how many times you have seen an episode, you still enjoy it!Hopefully when Covid is finally beaten, we can all get back to all the regular things we are used to doing. 2
Your_Lion Posted September 23, 2020 Author Posted September 23, 2020 It's funny how, no matter how many times you have seen an episode, you still enjoy it!That's the great thing about Columbo. Because they're not "whodunnits", it's all about the cat and mouse game and the interplay between Columbo and the killer. That gives them much more replay value than a whodunnit. 2

It was Murder, Smoke and Shadows, with Fisher Stevens as the killer. I loved it , and I've been a fan ever since. 1

As I recall, some of them even made repeat performances as different 'killers'!! 1

And William Shatner and George Hamilton played the killer twice. Everyone else was just once each 1
