Apparently the earlier ones were right... :wtf:

No these are different. The ones RushCanuck posted were the first 2 round pairings and times. I hadn't seen these and thanks for posting them. The way they are doing it is commonplace when they have to go in threesomes off split tees because of weather. It just so happens that Tiger, Spieth etc are so far back that they go last off of no. 10 tee.....

Why would you not have the best scores in the bottom half go off on 10 last?

That is never the way they do it and I don't know why. As much as I want to see Tiger this really has nothing to do with him in this case. He, Speith and the other guy they are playing with were last to post at +2 so are considered to be last. That is why they go last off 10.....

So we have to be forced to watch as he birdies 3 out of the first four holes and they give him complete coverage until he fades away on the back nine.

If he can get through the first two holes less than +2 he'll be doing better than he did each of the first two days. :)

I'll take your word for the normal procedure but it makes no sense to have the reverse order of how you treat contenders as how you treat the also rans. If they hadn't split the field Tiger would be going out in the first group...

I don't really care, I won't be watching the network coverage anyway, I'll have other DirecTV options...

This is how they always do it and you are correct. He and Speith would have been done and long gone (before the leaders even warmed up) had the weather not forced the pairings and tee times being moved up......

Bulls**t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just so happens/ :banghead:

Just because Tiger goes off the same time Rory does on the other side of the golf course doesn't mean they will show Tiger any. They probably won't even show any of his shots because he is so far behind...... :)

Well, if it's like the first two rounds, there will be over 10% more shots from Tiger than Rory to show....

I've never seen this ever during the final two rounds - This is all about ratings and publicity.. Edited by alphseeker

Actually, since the British Open did away with the third round cut after 1985, Tiger will have two more rounds...

i have plenty of times on the regular tour when they anticipate weather issues. I am sure you can look it up somehow. I have seen guys almost win (have a hot round) starting on the back nine on a Sunday finishing on the front and way ahead of the "leaders".....

If that's true it's total Bulls**t.

Yes, it is. Instead of watching the leaders and players with a chance we'll be seeing more of someone 14 shots off the pace.

This is why I hate Tiger because of media's love affair with the gigolo.

It's not the media, it's the viewers. Ratings history supports that theory, friends.

It's as if golf is a business.

ETA: If the weather is predicted to get horrible, why not play both nines concurrently? Levels the playing field.

Yeah, well I use to think Golf was the one sport that was above all that. I'll stick with my "roid cycling" :P tomorrow at the TDF

I am telling you they do this in regular tour events when weather deems it necessary from time to time and it has nothing to do with Tiger. They use the same formula for who goes off what tees and when......

I read they are going to go off tees 1 and 10 tomorrow in threesomes for the first time ever due to terrible weather potential. Maybe there is some way they can sneak Tiger in the final group to get some folks to watch..... :D

So does this impact the television coverage, which was scheduled to start 7 am Eastern? Do they change the time, or keep it? Will we be seeing coverage on tape?

I don't know. I looked for the tee times but they weren't posted yet.......

Here are the tee times. My interpretation is that they are the local times.. in other words, the 9:00 am tee time is actually 4:00 am Eastern. This is only my interpretation, any other comments or corrections are welcome.

http://scores.theope...n/TeeTimes.aspx

these are the ESPN television listings as they sit right now... My interpretation is that the coverage still starts at 7:00 am Eastern. Any comments or corrections are welcome. (the ESPN3 coverage is the wall to wall Tiger coverage??)

http://espn.go.com/e...7-19-14-3:00-AM

so, I'm speculating it will be taped coverage if both the above stay the same..

Hey everyone! I just checked ESPN website and now it says coverage will begin at 5:00 am Eastern, not at 7:00 as it stated a couple of hours ago... guess I'm getting up earlier than I planned.
