This is a hard one... but I went with Between the Sun & Moon because of those sexy Geddy 'ahhs.' laugh.gif I know.

I've never been crazy about most of the lyrics on this one and 'Speed Of Love' gets my vote as my all time least favorite Rush song ever, next to most of S&As, but production wise it's one of their best sounding albums EVER. The drums are crisp, the guitars loud but not overbearing like in TFE and VT, and the bass sounds great.

I hope they can start doing away with the guitar/vocal layers and make another CD that sounds as clean as Counterparts.

Easily COLD FIRE. This is one of the most personal sounding songs Neil ever wrote, but it just works. And I think musically that Geddy & Al just nailed the feel of the lyrics. This song almost seems like they sat in the same room and wrote the whole thing together.

Highlights:

The part where there is a sort of call/response:

Don't go too far

A phosphorescent wave on a tropical sea is a cold fire

Don't cross the line

The pattern of moonlight on the bedroom floor is a cold fire

Don't let me down

The flame at the heart of a pawnbroker's diamond is a cold fire

Don't break the spell

The look in your eyes as you head for the door is a cold fire

Also, how the guitar riff jumps out in sync with the ends of the verses e.g, "She said, This is not a love song, it isn't fantasy land"

I also really like how the song takes place sequentially (even if it's metaphorical) e.g. "it was long after midnight", "it was just before sunrise"
