  1. The original version of this character is holding PF's Dark Side of the Moon; I'm not sure about the artist although I've looked. I've wanted to swap out DSOTM for other faves (not that I don't love it). I've started to learn drawing in the past few years so this was for the challenge as well as a bit of fun. The album cover is a scan, but the rest is mine. It's not as good as the original and there are definitely some wonky bits, but it was a fun process. I have nothing but respect and admiration for the all the skilled artists out there.
  2. Received one of two packages on Saturday. It's a decent assortment of swag, but I only bought it to get better tickets. The tourbook is about the only item I would have bought regardless.
  3. Loving them both. They're classic Rush all over. BU2B is thematically similar to Freewill which has always been a defining song (lyrically) for me from Rush.
  4. It was a good summer popcorn flick. Indiana Jones was never about historical accuracy, it's just unfortunate that the first one was so good and has made it nearly impossible to live up to. Another problem this movie has is that there have been so many attempts to copy this formula that the series suffers from its own success. (Tomb Raider, National Treasure, etc.) I wasn't totally sold on the specific "supernatural" elements, but then how many truly original story ideas are left in this genre?
  5. that's sad news... with diabetes there's a good chance it was either cardiovascular or renal in origin as a result of his disease.
  6. After reading that he couldn't cross the river once it was too high and that he was only a quarter mile from a crossable area (unknown to him because he apparently rejected the chance to get such basic items like a compass and a map) I thought he was little misguided in his efforts to reject materialism. Contrary to the movie (which showed his cause of death as poisonous berries he mistakenly ate due to an unfortunate misunderstanding of a plant guidebook he had bought) he apparently just starved from lack of food. I actually quite enjoyed the movie when I watched it, but my opinion changed quite a bit once I heard the true story. After this reinterpretation of the facts (not to mention his "fact finding" mission to Baghdad) I think Penn is better off just acting.
  7. If it had to be someone besides PJ, it's good that they picked del Toro. His films show that appreciation for the fantastic and bizarre like PJ so I think it will work out quite well. I'm more concerned about casting, especially Bilbo as I don't think they will ask Ian Holm because of his age.
  8. why do i care about my number of posts?
  9. MC Hammer is really loathsome to me, but Vanilla Ice is a white guy doing a bad imitation of MC Hammer and his ilk. So, VI wins hands down. A lame imitation of loathsome...
  10. loved the first season, need to catch up. i'll probably wait for the dvd.
