Don felder

Plenty of eagles haters on the board but there is no denying the guy has a great melodic sense and a great set of chops that cover multiple styles/genres.

Clapton, page, etc get all the love but Jeff beck is pretty crazy. I know he's well known but I still don't think he gets the love he deserves. I think the reason was he never really put out commercial material so he's still a bit unknown

If we're talking "underrated" guitarists, as opposed to "guitarists in bands I like who aren't household names," I'd have to say Andy Taylor. After he left Duran Duran, his work in The Power Station, with Robert Palmer on Riptide, and his early solo stuff showed how good he was.

What about Kerry Livgren he did some fairly tasty stuff up to a certain level and he's mainly known as song-writer, keyboard dude...

What about Ronnie Montrose? Nothing amazing but great riffs and songs!

He's not doing much these days, but John Christ from Danzig.

Excellent pick! The first four albums are amazing and John never gets any credit.

Excellent riffs and really tasteful solos, the guy was awesome. Also glad you said first four. I know people who think 4 sucks, but it's my second favorite after III and a big reason for that is John's playing on that album.

The reason John Christ doesn't get any credit is because Glen Danzig wrote everything on the first four albums. Yes, John did a great job with bringing the music to life but it's hard to get credit of any kind when you don't write the material you perform.

Check out Workbook, Black Sheets Of Rain, and Body Of Song. Those are his three strongest solo efforts. Black Sheets Of Rain came out just before he formed Sugar, and sounds very Sugar like.
