Just saw them twice in Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando and it dawned on me how great "An Evening with RUSH" format would have been back in the 80's! Can you imagine the Setlists! Man losingit, you've LOST IT ages ago! I challenge you to make a Rush setlist that has only songs with one word titles (or some other silly premise).

But okay I'm here so...

An Evening with Rush in the 80's:

The Permanent Waves tour setlist...

Rush performs all existing material written up to that point.

When I first read the title, I thought you meant coming up with a setlist of songs ONLY recorded during the 1980s - which would have been PeW through Presto. Too early in the morning to try to come up with something. But that would work as well...

Also could be done for the 1970s. MAN, there are those here that would wet their pants if Rush did that!

Once you get to the 1990s, though, there weren't enough albums released to justify an entire set list.

Maybe someone could try "3 Nights of Rush Through the Decades".

First Night - 1974 - 1980

Second Night - 1981 - 1988

Third Night - 1989 - 2013

Awesome Setlist. I Love it but no Mission?

Thanks much. Yeah, I cut a few songs, and added a few others while trying to keep the spirit of the original setlist from that tour intact. I saw the HYF tour in 88, and never really cared for Mission for whatever reason. Sorry.

Did not need to check who opened this forum by the title. I choose to imagine there was a chronicals tour so that I can have a cut off at hold your fire, without having to give alot of songs from it because it is the tour album (also so I can include Show don't tell to spice up the set)

Set 1:

Subdivisions

Tom Sawyer

Freewill

Digital Man

Manhattan Project

YYZ

The Enemy Within

The Weapon

Witch Hunt

New World Man

Show Don't Tell

2112 Oveture (at the explosion, fade into the next song)

Cygnus X-1

Set 2:

Hemispheres (Abridged by cutting corners like they did with the Camera Eye)

Limelight

Time Stand Still

Prime Mover

Mystic Rhythms

The Analog Kid

Kid Gloves

Jacobs Ladder

Distant Early Warning

By-Tor & The Snow Dog (Abridged)

Xanadu

La Villa Strangiato (Abridged)

Closer To The Heart

Marathon

Encore:

The Big Money

Force Ten

Grand Designs

The Spirit of Radio

This is a somewhat realistic yet somewhat fake set, I did make it a little long, and put TS in an unlikely spot, and the encore is purely my dream, but overall I think this is a rational set. I am surprised people did not jump for putting the Cygnus X-1 Duology inbetween the two sets, imagine them finishing the song, as the lights fade on alex as he plays the final notes and leaving only an image of the Black hole up for the intermission. What I also think would be cool is if they did not play the section of music in hemispheres that refrences the voyage but play a video clip of them playing it from earlier that same concert.

(Hey losingit2k, you mind liking this post, they are such a rarity to get from you)
