I know they have no immediate plans, but just purely out of curiosity. I have a feeling Rush is one of those bands that will keep the fans together for a long time after they are retired. Edited by Lost In Xanadu

I will be honest, I did not buy the last two rush albums. I also have not purchased tickets to the upcoming tour and I probably won't. I seldom even listen to the band any more. It's been years since I heard a rush song that wasn't playing on the radio.

Despite all that, I still come here. I seldom talk about rush when I come here. As a matter of fact, the idolization of the band that goes on around here is what is mostly responsible for my recent disinterest. In the past 3 or 4 years I have just found much more interesting music to listen too I guess.

If I stop coming here it will probably be because the mods kick me out. It will have nothing to do with the status of the band.

The only thing I see happening is the forum withering away and dying. I've seen it happen to a forum larger than this one within the last two years. I think you folks are a bit more dedicated so I hope to see you all still 5 years down the line.

Yeah, the idolization of a band on a forum dedicated to it ... That's really bizarre .

dude, have you even heard clockwork angels? if not, you really need to - you might be amazingly surprised by how good it is - just sayin'! trink39.gif

i can only assume i'll be here for a very long time.

the only point of reference i have is that once i spent a lot of time on another music band's message board, and i stuck with it for maybe a year or two after the band broke up, but the board kind of died by then. rush have been around for a lot longer than that band, however, TRF is a lot bigger and idk, i just don't see it disintegrating for quite a long time.

I never said it was bizarre. I just said it turned me off. Its the same reason I live in Baltimore and hate the Ravens. Its not the team so much as the annoying ass fans all around me.

I will never understand one human being idolizing another. We are all mad up of the same matter.

But carry on.

it's their best album since the 80's by a long shot, and this is coming from someone who really didn't care for 4 of the 6 previous albums. you really owe it to yourself to check it out, bro! trink39.gif

I like Scarlett Johansson's matter more than I like your matter.

Seriously, I think I will always at least come back sometimes just to see who is still here.

Not sure.

your enthusiasm for here seems to have waned over time even with the band still active.

could be that we've covered so many topics repeatedly, not that it's anyone's fault, particularly new members who post what to many of us are the basics: "What's your fave album, etc..."

ohmy.gif This may be the first documented case of TRF turning a member off of Rush. Perhaps your member title should be 'Rush is overrated'. laugh.gif

I can understand how Sweetscience feels. There are times when I miss the days where it seemed like I was the only one into Rush. And the band's recent material doesn't top the old stuff.
