Totem - I love the lyrics, I love how joyful the song sounds,

"Joyful" is a great way to describe this one!

The word that best describes TFE (album) for me is: mediocre. It's the only time where I ever felt like Rush was kind of phoning it in. sad.gif I would rather see them try something different and not be entirely successful (VT) than play it safe like they did on TFE.

Resist ( A )

The Color of Right ( B+ )

Time and Motion ( B+ )

Driven ( B+ )

Half the World ( B )

Carve Away the Stone ( C )

I have this sentiment with Presto, RTB & T4E. I still get the feeling that, outside of a small handful of songs they just didn't have much that HAD to say or express as artists. Kinda like they made those albums just because it was time to.

Very good album - I can dig every song on it a lot. I prefer it over Presto, RTB, S&A or Signals and think it's as good as and musically more adventurous than Counterparts, in places even hinting at a more progressive rock feel. If not for the tragic events in Peart's life I could imagine them reaching the point they're at now with Clockwork Angels a lot sooner. I think you can hear the seeds of them heading in that direction but the momentum was derailed.
