  2. You are not the only one that heard this. I too noticed that he wasn't playing it exactly how he did 20 years ago. To be honest, I like the way he played it before a little more, but the way he plays now is good too.
  3. I would have rather heard The Body Electric, but I guess it was cool as it was my first time hearing it.
  4. I have an awesome idea for the R40 (or whatever they are going to call it) tour, even though it seems very unlikely. I wish that Rush would consider doing something like this. They could play their A Farewell to Kings and Hemispheres albums, both in their entirety! They probably would have downtune a few of the songs or alter the vocals a little, but I think it would be the ultimate tour to see with their prog songs being played! Just add in a few other hits and it would be the BOMB! Set 1: The Spirit of Radio Animate Subdivisions A Farewell to Kings Xanadu Closer to the Heart Cinderella Man Madrigal Cygnus X-1 Book l: The Voyage Prologue Set 2: Cygnus X-1 Book ll: Hemispheres Circumstances The Trees La Villa Strangiato Show Don't Tell Vapor Trail Red Barchetta Tom Sawyer Encore: 2112 Part 1: Overture 2112 Part 2: The Temples of Syrinx In the Mood After the synth-heavy Clockwork Angels Tour, I think this would be perfect! (Though it is a 1% chance it would ever happen )
  5. 1.The Necromancer - This song is so overlooked by the band it's not even funny! The solos in this song are just awesome! And I don't get why everyone hates the narration, it adds to the story! 2. The Fountain of Lamneth - An amazing epic that always gets forgotten. 3. Cinderella Man - Most underrated song from AFTK! There is a great melody in this song, and Geddy's voice sounds really inspired. 4. High Water - Most overlooked song on HYF! Neil's drum work on this song is great, too. 5. Hand Over Fist - The melody is very cool! Geddy's vocals are also really good. 6. War Paint - Presto overall is a pretty underrated album by them. This song never really gets a mention. 7. Territories - I don't really understand why some people wanted this track off of the Clockwork Angels Tour setlist. The guitar and vocals are just stellar! 8. Halo Effect - The guitar solo and orchestra sounds great! 9. The Color of Right - Very melodic. Never became one of the popular ones off of Test For Echo, though. 10. Countdown - Could be my favorite off of Signals! The keyboards make it sound very space-like!
  6. Has anyone noticed that the Countdown to Extinction Box Set is just like the box set Queensryche had for Empire? They both have postcards, posters, and live CDs! Not to mention the pictures of both of them look exactly the same.
  7. Whats awesome is that they are releasing a new box set that has the original Countdown to Extinction remastered, a new live CD (I think it is the same show as the DVD from Warchest), a poster, and some collectible postcards! So far it is only being released in Europe. Anyone know if it is coming to America?
  8. You know what would be awesome? Cygnus X-1 and Hemispheres in their entirety next tour!
  9. QUOTE (USB Connector @ Sep 8 2012, 09:41 AM) Wasn't it during the Vapor Trails tour? I don't think they played the whole thing.
  10. QUOTE (zac2112 @ Sep 8 2012, 01:36 PM) This set list blows, i cant believe they opened with a softie, and continue through the first set with lame pw songs. Synth era Rush is by far my least fav, saw both the pw, and gup tours which have been my least fav to this day. They dont redeem with second set by leaving out scog fron ca, and then manhatten project, and red sector a blah. Yeah they could opened with a hard rocking 70's song, or at least something other than Subdivisions! I think The Big Money would even be a better opening song. I also think they could have removed The Anarchist for Seven Cities of Gold.
  11. The setlist is pretty good. They could have removed a few of the songs (Manhattan Project, Red Sector A, Bravado) for more 70's songs, but I really shouldn't complain that much, because they are playing a lot of songs they haven't played in over 20 years. Territories, The Analog Kid, The Body Electric, and Wheres My Thing? are songs I am pretty excited to see. Grand Designs is also gonna be a rare thing to see. And of course all of the great songs from Clockwork Angels!
  12. QUOTE (SchemingDemon @ Aug 31 2012, 02:27 AM) I hope so. Either Xanadu or Cygnus X-1. They teased us big time last tour when they played five seconds of it at the end >:( Cygnus X-1 would be freakin awesome!! Even better than Xanadu, because we don't even have a video of it yet! They wouldn't be able to play it in its original tuning, though. They would either have to downtune it or play it fully instrumental (playing it in its original tuning would be better than nothing).
  13. Please play the full Xanadu! With the doublenecks! It's the best Rush song in my opinion.
  14. I was born in 1997, one year after Test for Echo was released (I was actually born while Rush was on hiatus), so I guess my birthday song is Half the World (odd choice, I know).
  15. QUOTE (Snowman @ Aug 21 2012, 02:57 AM) QUOTE (mazyyz @ Aug 20 2012, 10:13 PM) Great questions. I'm surprised he didn't know the last song on HYF. High Water Well, he said that there are quite a few songs he is not proud of. High Water could probably be one of the songs he tries o forget. Whats wrong with High Water? I happen to think it's one of the better songs off the album.
  16. Rush Dream Theater Megadeth Metallica Iron Maiden Led Zeppelin Aerosmith Queensryce Van Halen Yes
  17. I love both albums, but the songs on Caress of Steel are just EPIC!!! The Necromancer is pure pre-thrash metal! It's great! The Fountain of Lamneth has so many great parts (my favorite parts are No One at the Bridge, Panacea, and Bacchus Plateau). Bastille Day and Lakeside Park are also awesome songs (Lakeside Park is very underrated IMO). It's a shame that they haven't played anything from the album in over 30 years.
  18. QUOTE (micgtr71 @ Jul 22 2012, 05:07 AM) I think that Aerosmith is the largest pile of mediocrity ever to be embraced the masses. I would rather listen to a a toilet flushing. There are some others on the list, but nothing comes close to the animosity I feel toward Aerosmith. Really?! I understand if you don't like their post-70's albums, but some of their 70's albums like Rocks, Get Your Wings and Toys in the Attic are great! (Rocks is my favorite album of them)
  19. QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Jul 25 2012, 09:49 PM) QUOTE (av450 @ Jul 25 2012, 09:38 PM) I'm just starting to get into DT. I like The Glass prison, The great Debate, The count of Tuscany. My question is, what is a good first album to buy of theirs? Buy them in this order: Images & Words, Awake and Metropolis 2: Scenes From A Memory My order was Awake, Images and Words (bought them both at the same time), Metropolis Pt. 2, Live at the Marquee. All amazing albums!!!
  20. The show was amazing. Best concert I have ever been to. I was slightly dissapointed that they weren't able to bring that statue of Eddie holding the crystal ball up during Seventh Son because the stage was too small (Bruce said they should burn it down and build a bigger one ), but that hardly detracted from the show at all. Bruce's voice and screams (especially during NOTB) were amazing, and it was so cool to see my idols on stage from the fourteenth row. I was on Dave and Adrian's side, and let me tell you, it was awesome. I would love to see them again, IF they ever come back to Buffalo.
  21. Caress of Steel is the best album of all those choices, in my opinion. Clockwork Angels barely beats Fly By Night. Rush is a little better than S&A and Vapor Trails.
  22. 1. Half the World (yes, im serious) 2. Totem 3. The Color of Right 4. Driven 5. Time and Motion 6. Virtuality 7. Test For Echo 8. Resist 9. Limbo 10. Dog Years 11. Carve Away the Stone The songs are all good in my opinion. Some are really good. But there are no excellent or really great songs on this album like on previous albums.
