I went with the first. I liked to see them sitting down in the center of the stage hopefully a little lower than the guys. In other words, I'm picturing a multi level stage where the guys are on risers as is Neil on a higher riser than usual and the string section on the floor where the guys are usually at but in the center.

I'm guessing they will be behind Geddy. Usually where the dryers or rotisseries are.

I wouldn't want them in the middle of the stage. We would lose all the interaction between Geddy and Alex. Plus, they block any view of Neil's kit.

I voted off to the side...it's a Rush,concert.guest musicians,they should be respected,honored,but not featured...unless it's yo yo ma,or someone

well known in the classical world.

I picked none at all of course.

But if there is one...shove 'em as far back and off to the side as possible.

If I'm gonna sit near the stage, I want to see the boys only.

(BTW...center is the worst possible choice)

It all depends on the stage set up. if the boys are on raised platforms and Neil even higher than usual it wouldn't matter they they would be in the center.

They have three month, I think they'll have everything worked out just fine on Opening night!

You're just jealous that some of us have that awesome privilege of attending opening night! common001.gif

Posted this elsewhere:

I think they'll be on a two level riser behind Geddy, close to the side of the stage, so when they aren't needed to perform, they can sneak off.

I do think that to make it fair for the performers, they'll split it up. One set they'll use the strings, then the other set of the night they won't. That way they don't have to sit on stage all night long, when they're only needed for a few songs.

No option for naked, hanging upside down in back of Neil.

Not that I would pick that option, just sayin.

I want them in a transparent booth underneath the drum riser.

Do you mean transparent Baffles?

No, I mean a transparent octagon of acrylic walls with the drum riser on top.

Pluses: Musicians are isolated from the loud noise of the rock concert and can be miked for better sound. Neil's drums are ten feet in the air. Looks cool. String players get to hear what it would sound like to have Neil Frickin' Peart play drums right over your head.

Minuses: String players get sweaty.

I'd like them on a platform in the center of the arena, lowered down into the arena when their parts are played and then lifted back up into the darkness until they are needed again.

That's not bad either! Or... Oooh! Dress them up as clockwork angels and fly them in ala Peter Pan over the stage when they play!

THey are Rush...not the Moody Blues. No strings! Please...no strings!

Dude wishing for no strings isn't going to make them change their minds. They have already decided to tour with string, the only question is where and in what form?

Definitely "standing and walking around interacting with the guys." It would be cool to see Alex and two or three violinists standing back to back rocking out the middle section riff on Tom Sawyer or everyone doing a reggae dance during Spirit of the Radio. ohmy.gif

goodpost.gif I agree with this 100% Rush with a string section just does NOT appeal to me at all! If there has to be one,put them as far out of the way as possible!

Why do you keep going back at those who simply don't want strings?

It's no surprise that there are people who don't want to see it at all. This is a rock concert, and the trio kills it live. No need to clutter up the stage with more people. It's a valid opinion.

If you really didn't want people picking that option...you should've just left it off this poll, right?

Yeah, but when you post like a million setlist ideas, you're bound to get one right, right?! unsure.gif
