Tonight I listened to the full album while on a long walk, and enorphins notwithstanding, Clockwork Angels was phenomenal.

The best word I came up with was soaring. To achieve this level of musicianship while all are pushing 60 is unparalleled. Each of them are simply on fire.

Allusions of Rush from each decade of their career are evident throughout the album, and the story weaves and blends cohesively into a brilliant album.

It's their finest work.

Powerful, fluid & riveting...you mean porn right?

Correction: should read "are evident".

And you meant endorphins? unsure.gif

I'll wait a month before making such a bold proclamation (so I'll have listened to it a hundred times, and will have also gone through their back catalog again). But this may end up being their best album, and is certainly going to be ranked amongst their best.

Non-Rush fans and even casual fans simply can't understand the magnitude of that statement. This is the first time I felt that way about a new Rush album since becoming a fan over 25 years ago (as a kid). Words fail to describe the sheer joy I'm experiencing.

I did the same thing. I took a long walk the other night and I liked it a lot more under those circumstances (as opposed to listening to drips and drabs in the car or at work).

Similar feelings here. I've listened to the album now for over a week non-stop. It's on at work, it's in my headphones, I put it on when I get home.

The last time I felt this strongly about a Rush album was when I first started listening to them in early 90's.

I understand what Nick Raskulinecz meant when he said listening to the album makes him feel young again. I totally agree with that.

It's the Rush that I know and love.

I noticed this very thing! Snippets throughout that had me thinking of earlier albums...never enough to distract me from the music I was listening to, but rather a pleasant little surprise.

Yeah, it really is like they're applying everything they learned through out their career. Magnificent!

I'm working my way gradually into this one.

Played the whole thing non-stop for the first time today on a pair of nice computer speakers while I was at work. The first 6 songs just blew me away.

May listen to it again tomorrow at work.

Friday I'll listen to the CD on a good CD player with a good pair of headphones.

Saturday I'll have a few beers and crank it up on the home stereo. I'm not planning on being disappointed.

There's so many different things going on in this album that I want to listen it real close and absorb every note.

This is one of their best efforts. Even a bad RUSH album is so far better than anybody else it isn't even funny.

All I can say now is "Well done boys." Looking forward to Philly on 10/12.

I agree, it is (in my opinion) their finest work so far.

Soaring indeed. Like all my favourite things Rush, it took me several listens to 'get it'.

Now I can't get enough. All the songs (especially Carnies and Clockwork angels) make me remember why I love those 3 Canadians so damn much!
