RUSHHEAD666
QUOTE (goose @ Jan 21 2012, 09:58 PM) Dammit...all day in my head all I've heard is "Tattooo, tattoo...". Dpes this mean I'm starting to like the song...? And to you Sammy bashers...here's a little rock candy for ya: Hahaha! Dude!!! I fuckking love Sammy Hagar. In MONTROSE and as THE RED ROCKER!!! I absolutely can't stand him in VAN HALEN!!!!! The man made a ton of "Paper Money" in that band but I could really give a "F.U.C.K." No "BALANCE" at all!!!!!  "HUMANS BEING!" Ugh!!  The way Sammy sings in Van Halen makes me think that Eddie pushed his vocal limits too far. Screaming and stretching way too much to the point of chaos and irritation. I hate how he tries to sound so fukking cool on those VH songs. A Diamond Dave wannabe. Sammy's solo song "RED" is one of my all time favorites!!! Not bashing the 80 Million Dollar Cabo Wabo Tequila King. Just bashing his bullshit pop crap in VAN HALEN!!!!

A Diamond Dave wannabe. Sammy's solo song "RED" is one of my all time favorites!!! Not bashing the 80 Million Dollar Cabo Wabo Tequila King. Just bashing his bullshit pop crap in VAN HALEN!!!!  It's was the late 80's/early 90's, all the bands of the same genre were about bullshit pop crap... and they sold millions of records. In fact, without the Sammy years, we wouldn't be having this discussion because VH would have died in 1985, probably never to return. Or they would have pulled an Eagles move and reformed after 30 years or whatever, and nobody would care after the first reunion tour. But Sammy... see, Sammy was the *perfect* person for the job. He had a similar look to Dave (at first, as seen on Live Without a Net, close enough for comparison). He had a similar enough voice to Dave (again, sort of. Enough for comparison). And he was the better singer, technically speaking. So what happened? They set him up to be the guy that would go toe-to-toe with the legacy of David Lee Roth going forward.  They set up the feuds, they set up the fan arguments about who was better, hell, they kept Van Halen in the news for a *decade* while they weren't even putting out new music. Thank Sammy Hagar for that. If he wasn't who he was and if they hadn't put out the bullshit pop crap that sold a few million records, none of what we're talking about right now would matter. Silas Lang
QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jan 12 2012, 06:27 PM) I think Van Halen lyrics are a couple of steps above Kiss (who pretty much write songs about girls and rocking) and AC/DC (who pretty much write songs about girls and rocking). VH lyrics are mostly mind candy, but they can also be clever and often have a lot of style. When it comes to lyrics, I'll take Bon Scott over Roth anytime.
