This is getting ridiculous. I have facebook but I don't want people to know what I've been doing. I only use the service to share pictures of events like concerts, conventions and parties. Pretty soon Facebook the government will be forcing us to implant a chip into our brains which will allow facebook to track our every thought.

USB tagged you in a thought post: "I would cheat on Babycat with Treeduck, all she has to do is make a move."

It was the first example of something you wouldn't want others to know that people don't already post on facebook. In fact it's still the only one I can think of.

I just want to add that the statement does not reflect my feelings towards anyone on this forum or in real life.

We all know you can't stop thinking about treeduck's raw sexuality.

Part of me wants to re-sign on with Facebook so I can see what kind of porn my kinky friends are into.

But a larger part of me doesn't want to know.

Do peeing pygmy hippos on unicycles ring any bells??

Well, I don't frequent porn sites. But if they track us in the NWW forum, I know a few of us will be in trouble... unsure.gif laugh.gif

I don't go anywhere near those sites, either, but since I do frequent the NWW section, I'm thinking: That's me screwed..! laugh.gif

Wouldn't incognito mode/private browsing effectively solve this problem?

Or, y'know, not using Facebook apps on porno sites?

Facebook could just as easily use tracking cookies in the same way google does to personalize your advertisements on their sites.

FB can track you even if you sign out from Facebook because the cookies are on your machine, period. When you get to a site that has a Facebook module on it, such as Facebook comments, or even just a Like button or a "X Users Like This Page" widget, that cookie passes information. That's how the whole "tracking you while logged out" thing is happening.

There are two ways to defeat it so you can visit the Justin Beiber fan sites without shame: first, delete your cookies after logging out. Without the cookies, you're anonymous. Second, use a browser extension that works for you. In my Chrome browser I use one called Disconnect: http://disconnect.me/ - it's also available for Firefox and Safari, and it blocks tracking from Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, Google and Digg. You can selectively turn off the blocking so you can interact with sites that have that functionality as you need it.

Actually, I guess third would be, use a whole 'nother browser that you never use for social media stuff. If Chrome is your primary, use Safari to visit the Lady Gaga Lovers Forum (presuming of course that your secondary has never logged into Facebook and doesn't have the cookies set).
