  1. Well, I'm currently paying $6500 CAD a term for University here (+ another $500-$1000 for textbooks per term), because Engineering tuition in Canada is not regulated. I think whether it is a "rip-off" depends on the career, the university, and the program. I think my program - although maybe not worth the price I am paying - IS worth getting the degree, because the experience I get from my program being co-op will start me off at approximately $22-25/h after my 5 years. And the schooling is important. Honestly, everyone makes fun of Arts programs because they get you no where. But, I believe there are opportunities for every program. But that's just IMO.
  2. Yeah it says your local time is an hour behind EST as of right now, if you look under the map, so I'd say your preference is wrong on your profile. Because going by the time/map under your name, they match and are correct to each other.
  3. QUOTE (Janie @ May 25 2011, 08:11 PM) Where was the poll option of, "I would have my way with Lifeson until his legs were rendered useless"? Because I would choose that option. +1
  4. QUOTE (Babycat @ Apr 29 2011, 03:16 AM) QUOTE (GeddysMullet @ Apr 28 2011, 11:43 PM) http://www.ianmarkmusicphotos.com/artist-index#!__rush-2 Adorkable! I love that they still make the same faces. I'd love it too if I could see it... If you go to that link it works. The first one doesn't for me either.
  5. QUOTE (liddybuck01 @ Apr 24 2011, 09:22 PM) QUOTE (GeddysMullet @ Apr 24 2011, 08:00 PM) How about a threesome for the entire day with Geddy and Big Al? Hey, someone had to say it. that's what i was going to say lol or all three?? Let's be serious, it went across every woman's mind. Also, that's actually what I thought it had said when I opened the thread. Whooooops.
  6. I hope he is a REALLY good troll.
  7. QUOTE (Ancient Ways @ Apr 24 2011, 07:54 PM) I saw this thread at the main page and thought it sounded a bit shady. Glad I was wrong... I thought this too. I'm turning 19 next month, and I got in to Rush about this time 5 years ago, so when I was turning 14. I've always been an Alex girl myself, and he's just getting more and more fabulous as the years go by. What a well dressed man. Funny story: I went to the Hamilton show on Tuesday, and upon walking in to a bar for supper with my boyfriend, four middle-aged men shouted "Oh my god! A FEMALE RUSH FAN!" and started cheering loudly. It was a little embarrassing, but we do seem to be a little out numbered by our counterparts (no pun intended, I swear). Oh well, the days go on. We love the boys just as much as anyone else. And age is never a factor when it comes to music, in my opinion.
  8. No. QUOTE I deny it happened. It had a crap script to milk the franchise.
  9. Finals. Six finals in seven days. Two down, four to go..
  10. Um, my last pair was over $350. I just paid $200 today. Am I the only one who had ticket prices go down?
  11. QUOTE (Hemispheres89 @ Dec 8 2010, 01:04 AM) Quick question in case anyone might have the answer to this. I'm in section 210, and it's listed as seats 9-8, not 8-9. Is there any significance to this? What I mean is... I'm assuming its the end of the row (since presales have usually netted me those seats). What I'm concerned about is if it's the end of the row CLOSEST to the stage, or if it's the end of the row FARTHEST from the stage. How is it numbered at Copps? Also, how far away is section 210 in correlation with the stage? I looked at the seating chart but it's a bit foggy in the upper bowl diagram, since it doesn't SHOW the stage. It seems like I'm kind of smack dead in the middle of the sections, while leaning a bit towards being CLOSER than farther. Thanks for any clarification on that, as I would like to be comforted on where exactly it is i'm sitting. http://intl.ticketseating.com/maps/450w/81...rican-idols.jpg Map with stage - ignore the multi-coloured parts, I think those are typical price-divisions for concerts. I.e. section 119 is three different colours. Also someone above said the seating goes clockwise around the arena so maybe in your section 9 would be seen before 8.. I saw a show there when I was 7 or 8 (so ten+ years probably) so I'm not much help here. Sorry.
  12. Maybe they're just enjoying touring? Maybe it isn't all about money... I doubt they set the 180$ ticket price I paid for the amphitheatre last summer.
  13. QUOTE (micgtr71 @ Nov 19 2010, 09:40 PM) I was dead center in the front row of the balcony and could not have had a better seat. It was pricey at $125, but well worth it. Of course, my first Rush show cost me $12.50 gen/adm but that is another story...price is 10X in 25 years. I hope my salary does that...btw, the screen was perfect but some of the animation was not as exciting to me as to others here. I wish there were lasers. That was much less than I paid for my tickets and I was in the second section back at my show.
  14. It's Friday! Time to sleep, lovin' midterm week. Rush gets me through everyday...love them guys. Wednesday is my last midterm. Then it's time to sit back and .
  15. I started University this year, and tuition here is over 6000$ per semester. I'm living on residence right now, so my tuition and residence fees were almost 11 000$ for this term, plus textbooks and other fees; next semester will be the same. However, here, we do a 5 year co-op program. That means that every 4-months, you switch from school to work and back. This kind of helps with the debt, and gets you experience with your degree; if you can find a job. It depends on what type on Engineering you're here for, but apparently the average % of students who get a job is like 80 or 90%. Not bad, but it is highly competitive. I look at this being worth it. I may be up to over 50 000$ dollars in debt by the time I graduate in 2015, however, I feel as though my degree itself will be worth that. Students here are more likely to continue into a Masters degree or a PhD. Most of my professors once started with the program I am here for, and have since continued on to other projects. My biggest passion and interest is history, especially war history. But, I realized before it was too late that all you can do with the degree is teach, or work in a museum. Neither of which I wanted to do; so I decided on my second passion, mechanics (physics). No offense to you, but I feel the same thing applied to music. If you think college is a waste of you time and money, then you need to reconsider the fact you're there. University will put me in the ground, but I'm here, a month in, and loving everyday of it. If you think it's a waste of your time, you're going to get nothing out of your degree. Don't waste your time.
  16. QUOTE (trenken @ Jul 23 2010, 10:26 AM) In this topic people struggle with the fact that there is a difference between being a troll, and having an opinion. Seems most nubs around here think that if someone voices their opinion, and it differs than their own, they just call them a troll. Trolling would be coming here and saying metallica is better than rush. But saying a setlist sucks, or that you dont like the new songs is actually just an opinion, not trolling. Learn what the difference is. Of course this depends on how you act on your opinion. If you state the fact and only continue posting you opinion, fine. However if you continue to shove it in everyone else's faces and bash other people for liking the setlist, that is a whole different story. I don't know what happened leading to this event, so I can't say for sure; however the last time I remember someone getting banned, it was after weeks if not months of intolerable behavior by one particular individual that was splitting the forum into friends of this kid and everyone who was tired of him. IMO the forum admins handled this situation how they probably should. How many members have you seen banned in this forum? Not very many. They tend to control the forum with a mindset of "what's best for everyone" and not "this person is just being a big d-bag about one thing".

  18. Yeah, someone stole my ticket and lanyard (holding the ticket) out of my purse. Basically killed my night. It was worth 10$ in cash but it would have meant a f***ing hell of a lot to keep that.
  19. I'm glad this was brought up because the general consensus seems to be that it's quite fitting to stand at a Rush show. When I saw them for the second time at the Molson Amp in 2008 I was in amazing, perfect seats (for me). When Rush came out, I was about to die of happiness and anticipation. Everyone went NUTS when they walked out - only to be seated after they got half way into the second or third song. WTF? Let's just say I refused to sit, although EVERYONE in front of me in my section sat. And I was in section 202, right in the center stage! The guy next to me refused to sit too, but he was pretty die-hard and had seen them many times over the years. Only seconds after everyone decided to sit I started getting yelled at by the people behind me. We both agreed that I didn't pay for my tickets to actually SIT for a Rush show. Finally, they shut up, and decided to stand I suppose. Not long after that everyone got back up (thank god). It was honestly one of the weirdest things I have ever been apart of. I couldn't believe the lack of enthusiasm.
  20. Is it just me or does it really look like Alex has lost some weight? Over the last month I have noticed it in all the photo's people have been posting.
  21. QUOTE (WIDE-ANGLE WATCHER @ May 11 2010, 12:01 AM) QUOTE (okiimatsu @ May 10 2010, 10:50 PM) I noticed on your pic of the ticket for Irvine, they spelled amphitheatre wrong. wth? Good eye. They did spell it wrong. I guess it happens, you spelled it wrong too. Amphitheater We spell it with the re in Canada. Just sayin'.
  22. QUOTE (theguyincygnusx1 @ Apr 25 2010, 04:10 PM) QUOTE (blindhouse @ Apr 25 2010, 02:24 PM) QUOTE (theguyincygnusx1 @ Apr 23 2010, 10:13 PM) Well, I've only been to one show in my life, I admit, and it was at the Molson. However, I've heard from NUMEROUS different people about the horror stories at the ACC. Getting told to sit down, having garbage thrown at you, etc. Everybody is much more relaxed at Molson and everyone stands and has a good time. This happened at the Porcupine Tree show at the Queen Elizabeth. Everyone sat until the encore. I nearly cried in shame when I was forced to sit down. Never heard of it happening at a Rush concert though, especially at a place as big as the ACC. For the Snakes & Arrows Tour, I went to the Molson and had an amazing time! Everyone was standing and playing air instruments, singing along, dancing, all the fun stuff. My buddy went to the ACC show earlier on and told me how everyone sat and was rigid the entire time. Also, when he stood up, he had garbage thrown at him and was told to sit his ass down. I went to the Amp show last run, and I was sitting in the middle of 202 (Row O) and being my second show, I was really happy with my seats. However, everyone was standing and going nuts when they walked out; and then everyone proceeded to sit in front of me. I (and the guy next to me who had seen them like a bunch'a times) refused to sit and was yelled at by the people behind me repetitively to sit down. Eventually everyone got their asses up and it was all good. Although you pay for seats at a Rush show, I never plan on sitting in it. Just sayin'.
