You know what would be funny. Tell him you got him a new guitar and then hand him a banjo. Then just look at him and say "What"?

laugh.gif I love doing that stuff.

It was a matter of $$.

He got to play some really nice guitars, but this was the one he chose for his budget.

The Les Paul one's were very nice and very expensive.

Incidentally, he played some Fenders. The Epiphone sounds better in our opinion confused13.gif

They had a huge poster of Neil Peart in the drum section new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

I hate shopping, but this was fun. While Sam was playing, some guy started drumming and a guy picked up a bass and played too 1022.gif 1022.gif

That might have something to do with it. confused13.gif

ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

Sam's has the same mother of pearl on the neck part, silver pickups (?) and that white line around the swirly doodad where Alex's right hand is!

(okay! laugh.gif I have no clue what the parts on the guitar are called laugh.gif but Sam is a huge Rush fan and maybe that's why he picked this particular guitar? :suspicious: )

A Squire Strat or a Mexico Strat sounds great if you put some decent pickups in the thing.

My dad bought a Squire Precision Bass years ago and put in Duncan performers. It's good quality and it has a great sound, 'specially for learnin'. Decent, affordable stuff.

And the reason I bought mine, Mr. Pete Townshend

http://www.gibson.com/products/gibson/sg/img/townshend.jpg

Unfortunately I no longer have mine. I sold it to buy a Strat. Poor choice now that it is worth way more now. It was a great guitar for me when I was a teen. I learned a lot playing that guitar. It was a bit of a monster because someone had replaced the original tailpiece so there were two empty screw holes in the face. Still, I only paid $375 for it in 1981. It was 10 years old at the time. It had mini double coils on it.
