Jack Aubrey
Tonight we went to our local deli/pub and I decided to try a beer I've never had before. It was called 'Hefeweizen' and it was cloudy yellow and NASTY. After two sips I sent it back and ordered root beer.
1-0-0-1-0-0-1
That's a wheat beer with the yeast not strained out of it. I agree, it's pretty nasty.

Jack Aubrey
Hey Earthshine, is it cool for me to recommend that other people post in here about beers that they have tried and didn't like? So we can thank them for 'taking a bullet' for us, or give them a good-natured hard time should they post about a beer that we happen to like? Guinness did a wheat beer here called "Breo" a few years ago. It bombed spectacularly. I loved it though!!!!!!

I sorta liked it, but it was too malty for my taste, and I'll never buy it again.

Grolsch is not a quality beer. Like Heineken, Beck's, etc., it's a typical macro-brewed (mass produced) euro beer made with inferior ingredients, so when it gets warm, it tastes like cardboard. Most of the macro American beers are worse. A quality beer made with the good stuff will continue to taste good as it warms, and some actually taste better. I love that beer. One my favorite beers. As far as nasty beer goes, probably the nastiest i've tried has been Old English 800 (yes, technically it is a malt liquor instead of pure beer, but still nasty enough to deserve mention here).
