Ghost of a Rider
QUOTE (rushengal @ May 15 2005, 04:11 PM) There are a million different historical sights to see right along the St. Lawrence River starting off in Kingston (if your in the area, look me up). You absolutly have to do a Thousand Islands cruise (Kingston offers a Dinner Cruis, and Gananoque offers a 3 hours tour with a stop-off at Bolt Castle on Heart Island).... and if your into that kinda stuff, theres a charity Casino in Ganaoque as well. The Thousand Islands is awesome. I'm from that area on the New York side, the Cape vincent/Clayton area to be precise, and I love going back to visit now and then. My dad used to run a tour boat out of Clayton and we'd go with him sometimes. That river is so pristine and beautiful it just sends you reeling. There's just something about a river... I love the river, my mom drives along it every day to go to work. Theres just something about it, its rather mysterious, yet, you can see just about everything. Its something else. Ghost of a Rider
QUOTE (rushengal @ May 26 2005, 09:02 PM) I love the river, my mom drives along it every day to go to work. Theres just something about it, its rather mysterious, yet, you can see just about everything. Its something else. I remember the first time we went back to the area after having been away for awhile and we couldn't keep our eyes off the river. We were drawn to the water's edge every evening just to stand there and talk. We'd reminisce about when we were kids and the stuff we did growing up. I live in Louisiana now where the water is as muddy as the politics. I think this is why I have an affinity for the north country as opposed to the south and even Florida. I"ve lived there twice and don't care for it. I prefer maple trees in the fall and snow laden limbs in winter to palm trees or swamps.

barney_rebel
I can honestly say - this was the highlight of the summer for me last year, more than seeing R30, More than seeing Van Halen (obviously), more than seeing Madonna ( ), and more than my vacation. It was fun as hell.
