Hard to believe those fans wanted to hunt down and kill Steve Bartman over a fricking game.

Oh, but it's not just a game for some. It's their only reason for getting up in the morning. When they're at a game, it's the only time they feel alive.... eh.gif

My strategy of rooting AGAINST my own team (NYY) worked.  Tampa wins; Sox fall.  Suh-weet!

The worst September collapse in baseball history is complete, and the title goes to the Red Sux.  What a wonderful day.

Perhaps the championships of 2004 and 2007 were an anomaly.  They've turned back into pumpkins again.  Their reputation for 11th hour folds is back.  These are the last-minute-imploding-Sox I love to watch.  What new way to lose in the end will they discover next?

7-20 in September.  Losing two series to the sorry ass Orioles.  Coming within one pitch of a victory, like they did in 1986 Game Six, and then losing it.  Holy crap, what an implosion!

Hard to imagine a worse way to collapse.

Oh, wait. What if they were up 3-0 in a 7 game series, with games 6 & 7 scheduled to be played at home, and they lost the series? That would be worse. I don't think I could support them if they did that. pokey.gif

Go Verlander! Go Tigers!

Longo goes deep with score 7-3 to bring Rays back to 7-6, wins game, Dan Johnson HRs down to last strike.

Papelbon blows save, game with no one on and two outs, by giving up back to back doubles and game winning hit.

WOW!

In the end, the Sox did not have the heart that Tampa did. There will be huge fallout from this collapse. Grady Little got fired for falling apart in one game. Terry Francona let his team do it for a month. 7-20 in September, after starting 2-10 in April.

Oh well. My only hope now is that the Yankees, after laying down for the last 3 games, have trouble turning it back on and Verlander and the Tigers quickly dismiss them from the playoffs.

That was one hell of a September!

Yes. It was.

Not sure but...

I think braves set a new record for giving up biggest lead in a playoff race. facepalm.gif

Which would mean the opposite for Cards.

So I guess congrats are in order.

trink39.gif - there are tears in my beer

Rays were 9 back on 9/2.

How far back were the Cards?

8 1/2 but I think it was later in season.

edit : from what I'm seein, 9/06.

Braves had a 10.5 game lead on 8/26.

And yes confirmed, 8.5 on 9/06.

Over the Cards, or in the WC race itself?

Believe that what you call a season ending push.

Some would say, "Getting your shit together."
