Which do you prefer: Gordon Lightfoot's If you could Read My Mind or Jim Croce's Time in a Bottle?

Time In A Bottle without a doubt. But that is by no means one of his best.

I voted for Jim Croce. I have a very difficult time listening to his stuff, it reminds me of a time when I was suffering through some very dark depression. Heart-wrenching stuff.

 

Plus, his untimely death (at age 30) is very poignant when you listen to Time in a Bottle or I Got a Name.

Had to vote for a tie, although Gordon Lightfoot's 'Sundown' would have my vote in any poll up against any Jim Croce song.

Lightfoot. Had to vote for that one ... IMO it's his best song.

Same. Both have a dark vibe going on, the guitar playing is first-rate and the chord progressions and melodies are haunting and gorgeous. I don't own either CD and it's not the kind of music I listen to on a regular basis but I can certainly appreciate the talent.

That's exactly like me, I like these tunes but it's not normally the kind of thing I'd listen to.   I think I lean slightly towards Lightfoot's song
