This is based on the "Sanity is relative" gifs on http://www.arwen-undomiel.com/. For Alex, in particular, sanity is definitely relative. But we love him, anyway. laugh.gif

I have a fondness for young/70s and 80s Alex, myself. wub.gif

Today I was Alex Lifeson. At-least I pretended to be.

Damn, I love that man! wub.gif

Thanks Sir Lerxst and good job! The sync was off for me, though. And I let it buffer some before starting. BTW, that's a nice LP smile.gif

"Far Cry" is one that I have not even attempted yet! unsure.gif

The file is a bit blurry with a few dropped frames anyway, but youtube's compression didn't help. The main point was the audio, which is fine. I also recorded Subdivisions and BU2B, but those videos are really laggy, so I might re-record them before uploading them and creating my own 'covers' topic.

Oh, You Tube's compression... don't get me started! I spent a lot of time on the video I made to High Water and when I uploaded it, the timing was off. angry.gif

But the audio, yes, was great! I'm greatly impressed. How are you with Subdivisions? Hubby and I have been working on that lately - him on keys, me on guitar. I'm..... getting there. unsure.gif

The bit that took me a while to get was the Arpeggios underneath "In the high school halls....". In typical Alex fashion, it sounds a lot more difficult than it actually is.

That part is annoying because he'll throw one odd bit in every now and then. Just when you get the hang of 0-4-2-4, he changes it up. Gah! eh.gif

Listening to "At The End" from Victor.

Alex certainly has a distinctive vocal style. In both the spoken bits, as well as the sung bits.

Also, some deep lyrical stuff going on. Deep.

This one shook me so badly that I had to stop listening to the album for awhile (I just got it a few weeks ago). I was amazed that this came from Alex, it's so depressing and scary. unsure.gif

Hey, how about another nice picture to make us feel better?

Unfortunately, I have not listened to Victor in its entirety yet, but I plan to. I absolutely love Geddy's solo album, so I'm sure that Alex's solo album is also excellent in its own right. tongue.gif

Oh, Lerxst. We love you and your craziness. laugh.gif

Yes, Victor is a deep record in its entirety.

During that time Alex was dealing with relationship struggles with Charlene, so a lot of his writing was influenced by his personal life, as well as things around him.

I love reading about how the album came about and how each song was written... it's so interesting.

I'd never heard about that. Do you have a link or something where I can read about the album? Thanks! smile.gif
