So late Friday night/early Saturday morning (around 2 AM) just for the hell of it I go online to see what's available for the Portland show on Tuesday May 22nd. I check for just a single ticket, again more for fun to see what's there than anything. I've checked off and on for fun the last 4 or so months never really intending to attend and nothing 'killer' has ever been up for purchase. Fukk I can't believe what pops up.....12th ROW ON THE FLOOR!! I'm like man, $225 for one concert. Ouch. Then I'm thinking 'naw that's really a lot of dough'. So I'm talking to the gf the next morning and she's like 'you should've bought it, you know you can afford it. The overtime you worked last night (Fri.) would pay for it, even after taxes'. So I say, 'OK if that ticket is still there I'll buy it cuz it was meant for me' all the while thinking there's no freakin' way a 12th row floor ticket has survived 8 hours of availability. I go to the site (Comcast tix for the Rose Garden in Portland, not Ticketbastard) and lo and behold it's still sitting there waiting for me to pay $225 for it, so I did. 12th FUKKING ROW ON THE FLOOR!! My only concern is that I might actually be a little too close to soak in the overall experience. I've seen the show on video and I know the scale is pretty large. If someone who was fairly close could respond here to let me know what this type of ticket will be like in terms of seeing the entire stage, etc., I would really appreciate it.

Oh, and if I had a guess as to why a 12th row seat was available this late in the game when nothing this good had been available in all the past 4 or so months it would be that it was part of an expensive VIP package that didn't sell?

Rush tix for Seattle Nov. 13th will be purchased tomorrow. This will be an expensive weekend for sure. One for that show is $140 (I'll be buying one for me and one for a friend but he'll pay me back) so my total concert outlay in the space of 2 days will $365.

As far a being close, you'll be one of the few that actually has a good view of Roger...lol

Seriously... the projections are almost totally dedicated to the show, so you'll get very few shots of Roger or the Band on the projections or on the big screen... I was quite a bit away, and barely saw Roger or the band... not a bad thing as that's not what the show was about.

No doubt about that. Hope being close doesn't take away from the projections. Likely I'll have to scan with my field of vision to see it all.

I saw the show from 2nd row center. I loved it.

Yes you might miss a little bit on the outside edges, but the Wall is so big and so overwhelming up close, it's like being inside the show. The sound and the visuals are so crystal clear it's amazing.

I have heard people say it's better further back. I suppsoe it is all just individual taste. I thought it was great.

Friday I will be seeing it from the front row, so I'll let you know if that's any better or worse.

I really wish the remaining Floyd would do SOMETHING together, but without Rick, it would be hard and disappointing if they didn't get a good replacement.

I agree. It wouldn't be Pink Floyd but I'd still like to see them work/tour together. Jon Carin would be a good replacement since he's played with Floyd, Gilmour, and Waters. Richard Barbieri wouldn't be a bad choice either.

I'd rather see Pink Floyd pay the wall for such a price.

Who wouldn't? I've made my feelings about Rog's ego and feelings that he alone was Pink Floyd on another thread. Briefly, I think that's bullshit. Yes, the concepts and the lyrics were him but the music was Gilmour and Wright mostly and Dave sang lead on over half their stuff. As I've said more than once, the whole is ALWAYS greater than the sum of the parts (I feel that way about John and Paul too). That said, this is a concert experience like no other in history in terms of scope and presentation (as mentioned, I've seen the whole thing on video, pro quality at that) and I simply could not pass a chance to see it from the 12th row. The Floyd tour in '94 (sans Rog) was also something to behold, but I have a feeling this one's gonna surpass it with room to spare.

Thanks for the response. I'll come back 2 weeks from Weds. after seeing it and share my thoughts. And the "inside the show" thing sounds cool.

Looking forward to your report from the front row.

As a matter of fact, I was able to persuade a crazy survivalist we know and love to leave his mountain compound and join me in Modern Gomorrah for the show.

I have a ton of pictures but these I was able to get on right away. I will filter through and find more good ones tomorrow.

This was even better than the first time. Epic.
