The Owl
Listening to some Rainbow right now..........This poll is needed! Im going with Rainbow... what a collaboration with RJD! The guitar intro to "Kill the King" is f***ing Epic!
The Owl
I admit, I have not listened to that much Blackmore's Night...... Ive listened to a bit........really Celtic influenced.
Hatchetaxe&saw
Purple Ritchie all the way. The live bootlegs on the Purple label are testament to this. Absolutely remarkable, wilfully childish in places, but mostly incendiary. The studio stuff needs no explanation.
fritz44
Not really sure that a poll is needed, but to apease the 'Ritchie Blackmore Walks On Water, But Trips Over A Duck Society' I went with Rainbow. I love The Shed (Subtle) on 'Long Live ....' Quite like Gillan's view on Ritchie, referring to him as "the Banjo Player", but a hell of a banjo player in my eyes. GeddyRulz
I also choose Rainbow. His guitar breaks and solo on "I Surrender" are so emotive, it blows me away.
metaldad
I voted for Blackmore in Raindow because he has a much better looking wig with them. His hair looked like Bozo the Clown in Purple. I do love Purple anyway
Sonatine
QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Oct 15 2009, 09:14 PM) I also choose Rainbow. Blackmore is/was a bit of a tool at times, but he sure knew how to make an axe sing

RUSHHEAD666
Owl! You are a lot younger than me and you have great taste. Just listened to some RAINBOW last night! I love Deep Purple too, all of it. Especially the Steve Morse stuff. I had to go with Rainbow too though. Nothing touches the Dio years of Rainbow. As a cd addict I have all of the Blackmore's Night stuff too. It's ok, you just have to be in the right mood for it. Back to Rainbow. I must admit that I can't stand Graham Bonnet's voice. Annoying as FUKK. Joe Lynn Turner is weak too but I can tolerate him more. Signed, "Bent Out Of Shape"
Earthshine
Deep Purple though Rainbow is no doubt 2nd.
VarianStar
My vote went to Deep Purple, but I love Blackmore's Night. I never cared too much for Rainbow to be honest.
Wartypig
That's a bastard of a question.... The tracks from Machine Head when done live were the bollocks , but Stargazer just gets it for me...Rainbow get the vote.

ILSnwdog
Deep Purple, but not by that much over Rainbow. Blackmore is amazing, and I enjoy listening to both bands. I'll admit I haven't heard any of Blackmores night.
