Synthetic
Okay - So even though my work has a fairly astute Barracuda web content filter, Rushradio.net is still allowed. Having said that, I have been streaming it in my office and have really rediscovered some old Rush songs that really ring 'right' for me. I have been listening to Rush since AFTK and my tastes have grown with the band (I am really a huge fan of 1984+ Rush). A couple songs that stick out as incredibly strong (even though I haven't listened to them in years prior to this): 1. Making Memories: What a wonderfully lively tune and a great melody. 2. Lessons: A great rock song, period. 3. In the End: Starts off light then rocks - great tune. 4. Beneath, Between and Behind: I forgot how much I really loved that groove. 5. Circumstances: My favorite older Rush song by far... Anyone else recently rediscovered an old song by these guys?

Presto-digitation
I also re-discovered that Fountain Of Lamneth is pants. I knew this already but was reminded of the fact....
EmotionDetector
Well, I agree with a lot of those choices. Certainly: Beneath, Between, & Behind rings true for me as well. For the longest time, it was one of those songs that did not "click" with me from FBN. I always skipped that song for some strange reason. Not so much anymore. It is actually quite good! djb
Iam liking "Beneath, Between and Behind" these days, only recently did I actually listen to it and realized it was about the USA.... and now Neil lives there! ....kinda funny....
job
I just re-discovered "Lessons" over the weekend. GREAT song.

Synthetic
Good, I am glad I am not the only one that has rediscovered some of these older songs after immersing myself into new Rush for so long. I still think SnA is in my top 3 Rush albums, however...

Presto-digitation
Not sure why Rivendell gets the shit it gets, personally. People applaud and worship Tears but crap on Rivendell. I don't get that. I think they're pretty comparable for early ballads.

I prefer Making Memories I never got into "Making Memories". I don't think it's a bad song, just not a very good one. I bascially like 4 songs off of Fly By Night: "Anthem", "By-Tor & the Snow Dog, "Beneath, Between & Behind" and "In the End".
Presto-digitation
My top four would be Fly By Night, In The End, By-Tor, and Making Memories. Not a huge Anthem fan. I know a couple guys who go f-ing ga-ga over that song. I like it but less than these others...

It is mediocre at best IMHO... Now Bytor.... THAT is a different story altogether... heh

Lyrically i still think it's pants...vocally too. for the most part. But I do dig me the music considerably. I'm a By-Tor fan now. Alex is 10 kinds of badass on that one. Synthetic
Yup - Alex does rip heavily on By-tor... During the VT Tour I saw a plethora of shows and THAT was one of the high points of that tour.

Xanadoood
I always felt Beneath,Between and Behind was quite progressive. That groove is just insane!! " In the End" is there best " love" type song...just loads of emotion on that one with a great riff and solo.

contrombarafamellopet
I'm lovin' how people are mentioning BBB and Entre Nous... I'm a rather recent Rush fan, but those are 2 of my favorite songs. I prefer the Exit... Stage Left version of BBB, just because it doesn't have that scream in the middle. Plus, it sounds more rounded and full... not really sure how to explain it. It probably has to do with how it was mixed.
