because people were knocking themselves out with them!

laugh.gif I remember having those as a kid, when I was in about 3rd grade, they banned them as weapons.

I guess you can still buy them here.

I think my brother hit me in the head with these once, I think?

You think he'll tell me if i do ask him? I don't think so!

Yep. They were all the craze when I was about 12/13.

They were banned from our school too laugh.gif

I think it was just the compelling/annoyance factor that forced the ban.

I think they were called clackers over here.

I remember the nasty bruises I'd get on my forearms from those things. They hurt like hell. laugh.gif

Safe bet these were banned from my school. Thanks to me skipping ropes made of rope without handles were banned from my primary school... it was an accident though! laugh.gif

That gave me a funny mental image!

Hahahaha. Let me set things straight... I was hit in the eye with a frayed end of one and almost blinded in that eye. laugh.gif

Clackers is the brand name I remember as well. The first ones were the best, then they tried to make them safer and cheaper. The danger of shattering was the biggest reason why they pulled them from the market.

Just like the old lawn darts game called Jarts. The originals had sharp metal spikes that stuck into the ground very well. Then there were idiots who threw them at people or straight up into the air and some ended up embeded in skulls. So they changed them a few times to make them safer for the idiots and they didn't stick in the ground and the game wasn't nearly as fun anymore.

I say bring back the original Clackers and provide eye protection in the package!

Are more fun and best of all can never be made safer... Although they have resulted in a few finger injuries for me. laugh.gif

Ohhhh that brings back memories
