ladirushfan80 Posted July 17, 2008 Share Posted July 17, 2008 OK... i'll do my pictorial of PAGSCON... as seen thru they eyes of Ladi. First, on Wednesday, the 9th Troutman flies into my hood. Sheri & I pick him up at the airport around 7:30am. Sorry we got to you so late, man. We go to Sheri's drop off his stuff, and then head to my house so i can get the jello shots & some other stuff i'll need for the weekend. We drop Amber off @ the high school, all loaded up ready to go, we head back to sheri's house. my cooler was FILLED to the brim with jello shots man!!! all 340 of 'em! (sorry, no photos of that) sheri & I had to run a couple of errands before we took him out to lunch. so troutman decided to soak up some michigan sunshine, and get in a power snooze (the guy was running on fumes at this point, having taken a red eye to detroit, and dealing with the time difference) here you are peeps! troutman power snoozin'!!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v415/amandaladi/RUSH%20stuf/pagscon08/DSC06735.jpg (hey man, he said i could post that pic!!!) so, after his little power snooze, sheri & I treated the troutman to a great burger. one of the best burger joints i know of in my hood... It is where they host the Detroit Grand Prix. ladirushfan80 Posted July 17, 2008 Share Posted July 17, 2008 Trout & I cross the border, no problem THAT TIME... except, maybe that was because we went thru the Detroit/Windsor tunnel... the funny thing (to me) is, i'm telling Greg about the thing that makes me nervous about going thru the tunnel, or being stuck in the tunnel when traffic is heavy. I have this fear in the back of my mind that it's going to bust wide open, and we'll get flooded, with no way out, and drown... because see, the tunnel is under the Detroit River. Pags & Owlswing (& the Rushettes) Pags - too much for me to say here for me to adequately convey how I feel about you inviting me into your home and to this event. You are a class act. I hope to return the favor some day. Owlswing - I had no idea you werent going to make it to the show. Had I known that, I would have said a proper goodbye. All that work and you didnt even get to the show...its not right man, its just not right You guys have the most beautiful children and they were a joy to be around . I hadnt been there 2 minutes when one of the Rushettes was making me feel at home. Kids say the darndest things Necro & Ceej (& Chicklette) It was fantastic to get to meet you both again, and this time to be able to spend some time laughing and telling stories. I learned things about McDonalds and local produce that I had never known before I will say that I was initially concerned that Necro might just spontaneously snap my spine or something. After all, I had heard all the stories about scars (emotional and physical) from PC07, but things turned out okay and I think I will eventually be able to get some of the images out of my head with some therapy and whatnot. Chickette, it was great to meet you too! "Meet us at the Necro" lol so funny GhostGirl (& Legokid) GG, it was just great to meet you and Legokid, finally. All the kind things that people here have said about you are true; you are truly a wonderful and sweet person. It was great to meet LegoKid and spend some time listening to his movie reviews, and to witness his hot tub skills with the ladies first hand I only wish I could have been able to spend more time chatting, but the time went by so fast. I hope there is a next time. 1-0-0-1-0-0-1 1-0-0, you play a mean guitar bro. It was such an impromptu thing for you it seemed yet you rocked out hard and that jam session just made the night. Nothing says "get to know me" like screaming Rush lyrics on the top of your lungs after 4 Patron shots and about 42 beers. Hope we can hang again in the future. Ladirushfan80 Ladi - well your reputation certainly preceeded you and your Jello shots were the story of PC08. Well it was a real pleasure to meet you and find out in person that you are as sweet as everyone says you are. You sat there grinning ear to ear playing Rush songs on the drums and all I could think about was how you were like the complete opposite to Neil's scowl. As a fraction, you would be expressed as 1 over Neil, yes? But only in facial expression...it was great to hear you play. Hope to meet you again some day. Troutman I think I saw you once at Pagscon. You were like, I dont know, fishing the rest of the time!! Just kidding Trout....it was a blast to hang out with you. We had so many laughs with you, the shirt, the Whale Truck that came to deliver your chum while you were out ... Oh man, you were a major reason why I was hoarse after PC08. And you are a total class act and a gentleman. Slacker Slacka..your entrance to PC08 was met with the same volume of applause as Alex stepping out and ripping those opening chords to Limelight. We had been in the pool earlier in the day discussing how we weren't sure you'd be there, and you arriving just sort of made PC08 official. We all just looked at each other and said "Oh Lord, ITS ON". I had only met you briefly at MSG, but you are hysterical and your reputation preceeded you as well. Sitting between you and Tick is hazardous to anyone's health. When I have a Moosehead this weekend, I'll be toasting meeting you ! Tick Tick, I used to read your posts and think to myself "Who the F is this guy???" Now I read them and go, "I know that F'ing guy, he's N-V-T-S" Seriously man, you are a riot. I have visions of you immitating everyone from Rodney to Paul Stanley, and nobody does it better. I'm hoping there will be another reason to hang out again brother Digital Man & Sundog Digi - you are a heck of a nice guy and it was great to meet you after all this time. That way we can all say we have had PTA's crabs :lol TheSweetScience & Failte Two more people that I had never met, that also made me feel very much part of the crew, were TSS and Failte. I enjoyed the conversation and the laughter at PC08, and TSS can also play a mean guitar! Great to meet another fellow Rush Forum Fantasy Hockey player. Exitlude It was great to come to Pagscon, but it really sucked to leave (with props to Sundog as I think that was her line). But my main worry with the weekend was the tailgate situation and the general lack of clarity around the PNC parking lot. The last thing I wanted to do was mislead the entire group (yes Tick, like the Pied Piper: into a closed parking lot. But since I was trying to coordinate getting the other non-PC08 folks to have a chance to meetup with us at PNC, I took with my yellow PostIt note with the names and numbers of all the folks that had PM'ed me about the tailgate and I hit the road - it was time to work the phones. The First Bump In The Road On my way down the Garden State Parkway, Natch called and gave me the first bit of not-so-good news: The signs on the GSP were indicating the PNC lot wouldnt open until 6pm. Not good. Still, is it real or is it just PNC trying to keep people from trying to tailgate? Natch was on target to get there first. I started to make phone calls and alert the people who were heading to the venue that the lot would likely be closed. A loose Plan B was TGIF's nearby the venue. It wasnt a real attractive option (not as attractive as say, oh I don't know - a gas station) with all the food and drink in tow. About 20 minutes Natch called me and said that he had reached the lot and it was blocked by State Troopers. Crap. Ok, a series of phone calls later and looks like everyone will rendevous at the TGIF until 5:30 and then try to get into PNC... The Second Bump In the interim, I managed to get a hold of HatchetAxe&Saw (great to meet you bro) who was en route in a taxi cab with a cooler full of Guiness (as any self-respecting Irishman would do) and gave the cab driver directions to TGIF so that we could meet up. We had contact with eGuy who had somehow made it into the north lot at PNC, and while we got Hatchet and everyone else into TGIF's, Pags calls me to tell me that they're going to try to get into the north lot. Pretty much simultaneously, some random (i.e. non-TRF) Rush fans enter the TGIFs ("you guys going to see Rush?" they ask a group of us all wearing Rush shirts... "Uh, yep". Good guess). Then the phone rings and its Pags. He didnt sound any different then he usually does, jovial and in good spirits, but the music inside TGIFs is a bit loud so I stepped outside... "Hey man, yeah we have a slight problem" Pags says.... Seems the Paggywaggon blew a seal (Yes Tick, that reminds me of that old joke about a penguin with white stuff on his lips)... LOL. Anyway, at this point, GeddysMullet and eGuy and Metaldad have shown up at TGIF (and it was great to meet you guys as well). Without hesitation, eGuy gets on the phone with Pags and within minutes says hes headed to the Exxon down the street. Extended family, extended shmamily....pretty cool eGuy. TRF is a brotherhood! Anyway, within a minute we've paid our bill at TGIF and we're off to stake claim to a 30 foot rectangle of grass behind the Exxon station. I can honestly say that there wasnt a moment where any of us thought we weren't going to work this thing out and get to the church on time. As Ladi would say, thats how we roll I could hear Bruce singing in my head "Meet me beneath that giant Exxon sign"...<poof> we were gone. The scene at the Exxon station when we arrived was a bit comical. No offense to Pags and his situation, but pulling into a gas station thats quite literally right smack dab in the middle of a NJ highway exit, and seeing 20+ people with blankets, frisbees and coolers, was, well, cool! "I think we found them" do ya think? As so many of you have already said in this thread, we weren't leaving any child's behind. I have pics of the tailgate at The Exxon Extrvaganza but I will seek approval from all those involved before posting Postlude Depressed to have this all be over. Just unloading the pictures from the camera and it makes me feel, well, depressed. PC08 is done, the tour (for me) is done. Meh. Someone pour me a drink. Miss all you guys. It was really incredible to meet you, and hang out...you fit right in with this crazy crowd - not that I expected anything different. I remember looking at you when we were all jamming in the basement...and while everyone looked like they were having a great time, you in particular seemed to be on cloud nine. It was a cool moment. Like I said, I had no plans on fishing, really But after seeing that stream in the middle of town and a trout rise and take a natural. There was no looking back, I had to give it a few hours at least. Plus, you have to get away from Necro, Slacker and Tick if you know what I mean. I miss all of you and hanging out together. I think I was driving people nuts forcing them to eat some flank steak wheather they wanted to or not. I too hope our paths will cross again. For now, I think were all hanging on as long as we can to the moment, remembering how trully incredible it was.
