TheRocinanteKid
Listen to me just hear me out, if I could have your attention just quieten down for a voice in the crowd. I get so confused I don't understand I know you feel the same way you've always wanted to say but you don't get the chance, just a voice in the crowd. I don't know the score anymore; it's not clear anymore I can't tell right from wrong anymore; I just don't understand. I was sitting here thinking of exchanging a new world for old like changing channels on the tv, or the dirt we stand in to gold. When I was young, my father told me just the bad guys die at the time just a little white lie it was one of the first but it hurt me the most and the truth stung like tears in my eye that even the good guys must die there's no reasoning no crimes and I never knew why even now it still makes me cry. If there's somebody up there could they throw me down a line just a little helping hand just a little understanding just some answers to the questions that surround me now. If there's somebody up there could they throw me down a line just a little guiding light to tell wrong from right just some answers to the questions that I'm asking you I keep a vigil in a wilderness of mirrors where nothing here is ever what it seems you stand so close but you never understand it for all that we see is not what it seems, am I blind? And you sit there and talk revolution but can you tell me just who's in command? when you tell me the forces we are fighting then I'll gladly join and make plans but for now only our t-shirts cry freedom and our voices are gagged by our greed our minds are harnessed by knowledge by the hill and the will to succeed and if that's not what you believe would you let me know I'm not standing alone that I'm not just a voice in the crowd If there's somebody up there could they throw me down a line just a little helping hand just a little understanding just a little understanding to the questions that I'm asking you If there's somebody up there could they throw me down a line just a little guiding light to tell wrong from right just some answers to the questions that I'm asking you I'll keep a vigil in a wilderness of mirrors where nothing here is ever what it seems I'm scared to shout in case I draw attention from the powers that preside over our minds and our lives when they find what I want is the deadliest weapon, that is truth Day by day it's getting louder and day by day it's getting stronger but when I can't scream no more and I need reassurance, I listen to the crowd. nic2112nic
Left a good job in the city, Workin for the man evry night and day, And I never lost one minute of sleepin, Worryin bout the way things might have been. Chorus: Big wheel keep on turnin, Proud mary keep on burnin, Rollin, rollin, rollin on the river. Cleaned a lot of plates in memphis, Pumped a lot of pain down in new orleans, But I never saw the good side of the city, til I hitched a ride on a river boat queen. Chorus Rollin, rollin, rollin on the river. If you come down to the river, Bet you gonna find some people who live. You dont have to worry cause you have no money, People on the river are happy to give. Chorus Rollin, rollin, rollin on the river. Rollin, rollin, rollin on the river. PhilCastro
[Lover:] I've got a feeling twenty one Is going to be a good year. Especially if you and me See it in together. [Father:] So you think 21 is going to be a good year. It could be for me and her, But you and her-no never! I had no reason to be over optimistic, But somehow when you smiled I could brave bad weather [Mother:] What about the boy? What about the boy? What about the boy? He saw it all! [Mother and Father:] You didn't hear it You didn't see it. You won't say nothing to no one ever in your life. You never heard it Oh how absurd it All seems without any proof. You didn't hear it You didn't see it You never heard it not a word of it. You won't say nothing to no one Never tell a soul What you know is the Truth. nettiesaur
The Enemy Within Part one of 'Fear' Things crawl in the darkness That imagination spins Needles at your nerve ends Crawl like spiders on your skin Pounding in your temples And a surge of adrenaline Every muscle tense- To fence The enemy within I'm not giving in To security under pressure I'm not missing out On the promise of adventure I'm not giving up On implausible dreams- Experience to extremes- Experience to extremes Suspicious-looking stranger Flashes you a dangerous grin Shadows across your window- Was it only trees in the wind? Every breath a static charge- A tongue that tastes like tin Steely-eyed outside to hide the enemy within... To you-is it movement or is it action? It is contact or just reaction? And you-revolution or just resistance? Is it living, or just existence? eah, you-it takes a little more persistence To get up and go the distance... Finding IT
The fishing boats go out across the evening water Smuggling guns and arms across the Spanish border The wind whips up the waves so loud The ghost moon sails among the clouds Turns the rifles into silver on the border On my wall the colours of the maps are running From Africa the winds they talk of changes coming The torches flare up in the night The hand that sets the farms alight Has spread the word to those who're waiting on the border In the village where I grew up Nothing seems the same Still you never see the change from day to day And no-one notices the customs slip away Late last night the rain was knocking at my window I moved across the darkened room and in the lampglow I thought I saw down in the street The spirit of the century Telling us that we're all standing on the border In the islands where I grew up Nothing seems the same It's just the patterns that remain An empty shell But there's a strangeness in the air you feel too well The fishing boats go out across the evening water Smuggling guns and arms across the Spanish border The wind whips up the waves so loud The ghost moon sails among the clouds Turns the rifles into silver on the border On the border On the border On the border
umoveme
On a morning from a Bogart movie In a country where they turn back time You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre Contemplating a crime She comes out of the sun in a silk dress running Like a watercolour in the rain Don't bother asking for explanations She'll just tell you that she came In the year of the cat She doesn't give you time for questions As she locks up your arm in hers And you follow 'till your sense of which direction Completely disappears By the blue tiled walls near the market stalls There's a hidden door she leads you to These days, she says, I feel my life Just like a river running through The year of the cat Well, she looks at you so cooly And her eyes shine like the moon in the sea She comes in incense and patchouli So you take her, to find what's waiting inside The year of the cat Well, morning comes and you're still with her And the bus and the tourists are gone And you've thrown away the choice and lost your ticket So you have to stay on But the drum-beat strains of the night remain In the rhythm of the new-born day You know sometime you're bound to leave her But for now you're going to stay In the year of the cat
Finding IT
To my mind, the greatest love song ever written. By Parish and Carmichael. Now, mebee I can stop humming it. Stardust And now the purple dusk of twilight time Steals across the meadows of my heart High up in the sky the little stars climb Always reminding me that were apart You wander down the lane and far away Leaving me a song that will not die Love is now the stardust Of yesterday The music Of the years Gone by Sometimes I wonder why I spend The lonely nights Dreaming of a song. The melody haunts my reverie And I am once again with you. When our love was new, and each kiss an inspiration. But that was long ago, and now my consolation Is in the stardust of a song. Beside the garden wall, when stars are bright You are in my arms The nightingale tells his fairy tale Of paradise where roses grew. Though I dream in vain, in my heart you will remain My stardust melody The memory of loves refrain.

Lerxster
Today I walked. Today I ran. Today I tried to figure who I am. Yesterday we played in our waterfall... Dancing with the Summer...laughing at it all. Over the Mississippi moon... Have to make myself remember, it's something that I used to know. Over the Mississippi moon... Got to get myself together, I've started seeing blue and gold. Today I flew over the hill. Reaching for that feeling, that one more thrill. Yesterday the same, tomorrow never knows. Finding IT
The Hourglass Savatage Standing alone by the edge of a river He's traded his life for a glass full of tears The bargain was quick for one's life is less dearer When the sand's running out and the ending is near The ending is near The ending is near The ending is... The man climbed aboard and set sail for the ocean He put on the mast all the canvas she'd take Then laid himself down on the deck neath the tiller The ship was his coffin this moment his wake Runaway reason Runaway seasons Time is a treason That I give back to you now The wind touched the sail and the ship moved the ocean The wind from the storm set the course she would take From a journey to nowhere towards a soul on the ocean From the wake of Magellan to Magellan's wake Runaway reason Runaway seasons Everything in it Hours and minutes You take tomorrow Because it means nothing To me To me To ... In the dark he heard a whisper Asking him to understand In the desert look for water On the ocean look for land In the dark he heard a whisper Asking him to understand In the desert look for water On the ocean look for land And there in the waves Was a man in his grave That he saw in the night 'Tween the flashes of light And he could not be there And all he had prayed Or had given away He now found to be wrong In the grip of the storm And he could not be there Could you keep our lives together Safely back onto the shore Could you grant this last illusion Only this and nothing more Could you keep our lives together Safely back onto the shore Could you grant this last illusion Only this and nothing more And all at once the heavens bled their fire The anchor broke the chains they flew away And suddenly the waves were reaching higher And in the dark I thought I heard them say Could you keep our lives together Safely back onto the shore Could you grant this last illusion Only this and nothing more Everything I ever had for one more tomorrow Everything I ever had for just one more night And if this is not to be I pray could I borrow Just another final hour onto my life Did you ever really want to Did you ever really want to Lord, tell me how it will be Lord, tell me how it will be Standing once more by a boat on a river He pushes it off while he stays on the land And seeing the hourglass now so much clearer Which someone had refilled by hand And somewhere that boat's now adrift on the ocean The mast at full sail and there's no one on board The hourglass no longer sits by the ocean Only his footprints all alone on the shore And soon they're no more No more No more

Finding IT
This is the day Of the expanding man That shape is my shade There where I used to stand It seems like only yesterday I gazed through the glass At ramblers Wild gamblers That's all in the past You call me a fool You say it's a crazy scheme This one's for real I already bought the dream So useless to ask me why Throw a kiss and say goodbye I'll make it this time I'm ready to cross that fine line CHORUS: I'll learn to work the saxophone I'll play just what I feel Drink Scotch whisky all night long And die behind the wheel They got a name for the winners in the world I want a name when I lose They call Alabama the Crimson Tide Call me Deacon Blues My back to the wall A victim of laughing chance This is for me The essence of true romance Sharing the things we know and love With those of my kind Libations Sensations That stagger the mind I crawl like a viper Through these suburban streets Make love to these women Languid and bittersweet I'll rise when the sun goes down Cover every game in town A world of my own I'll make it my home sweet home CHORUS This is the night Of the expanding the man I take one last drag As I approach the stand I cried when I wrote this song Sue me if I play too long This brother is free I'll be what I want to be CHORUS
