Of the movies mentioned, I only saw the two Terminator movies and Total Recall (no interest in the others).  Alright, I saw parts of 2 or 3 of other ones listed, but not the whole movies.

Anyway, as much as I love Total Recall, it's hard to compete with T2.  I'm honestly shocked that more people so far have voted for the first Terminator movie.  It's a great movie, but the 2nd one blew it away I thought...

I thought the story in TR was more fun that Terminator (I or II).

You do have a point as it was a majorly fun story, but I give T2 the ede for 2 reasons:

1. The cool factor. T2 has to be one of the top 5 or so coolest (not necessarily best) movies ever made right up there with the first Matrix.

2. The end of Total Recall bugged me (pun intended). The whole part where they don't have oxygen and their bodies get huge and their eyes bug out before the oxygen comes back and they return to normal is just beyond silly. I know, perhaps I'm quibbling, but that scene always bothered me and distracted somewhat from the movie overall. Still a great and fun movie though. yes.gif

That bothered you but the end of T2 didn't?

When the chip that was saved from the first Terminator was destroyed so that the technology didn't exist to build the first terminator the T2 should have winked out of existence right on the spot. If the chip is destroyed so T1 can't be built then how could T2 exist to come and destroy the chip....

It was a time continuum issue that ruined the whole movie for me.

I tried thinking about what you just said but my mind boggled thinking about being caught in a time loop and other intricacies of time travel and multiple time lines and eventually it just plain shut down. wacko.gif I'll try a reboot later and see if I can figure it out. tongue.gif

Seriously though, no one goes from looking like this...

And, yes, I know that's a scene from earlier in the movie, but you get the point. wink.gif

I like believability, plausibility and consistencey, even in a very contrived sci-fi universe. Yes, the premise of the Terminator movies (and Total Recall for that matter) are very contrived and absurd compared to normal reality, but I'm able to suspend disbelief until something totally ridiculous shows up like the eye-bugging scene in Total Recall and then it just gets silly.

Another example is the scene in Superman 2 when the three criminals were blowing and creating all this destruction from the wind. That was fine, but then all the citizens of Metropolis made the most inane idiotic comments while it was happening for like 10 minutes and it was so horrendously stupid that it kind of ruined the movie for me. Other movies like the first Matrix (again, a compeltely contrived universe) are believable within the framework of the movie. If all of the sudden Morepheus started quacking like a duck in the middle of his red pill blue pill speech, I'd be like, what the f*ck, you know?

I see your point, just wouldnt put the TR thng in that category. You made me laugh actually, cause the thing in superman I where he makes the world spin the other way by flying around it (bunk) and then having that make time go backwards (bunk) seemed so cool when I was a kid, but is beyond stupid to me now smile.gif
