James Bond

I didn't like where they went with the latest James Bond flick. I thought the movie was alright, but it was missing a lot of that James Bond spoofieness. I thought it took itself too serious.

For the James Bond fans, what was your favorite movie?

Favorite Bond?

Favorite Bond girl?

Favorite bad guy?

I've never seen a Bond movie all the way through, and I don't feel I'm missing much.

Depends on which Bond movie you watch, some of them were real dogs. Like 'Live and Let Die' or 'License Renewed'. Check out a Connery Bond movie sometime. I also happen to think (with no disrespect intended toward WorkingCinderellaMan) that 'Casino Royale' is one of the best Bond films ever. Give it a try.

I agree that Casino Royale was absolutely one of the best Bond films to date. I grew up with the Roger Moore era, so I'm not going to agree that Live and Let Die was a dog, though. The Connery movies are all classics, for sure.

That's cool. At least someone's posting on my thread. smile.gif

I loved the Sean Connery era. What I like best about the whole franchise is how silly it is. I don't think the character was ever meant to be taken seriously.

My favorite Sean Connery was Diamonds are Forever. There is a reference to both the moon landing conspiracy and Howard Hughes that are really funny. The humor is subtle and the situations unbelievable. But because its a spoof, it makes the film better.

Roger Moore wasn't that bad either.

I've thought of giving these films a shot - start with the first one and make my way through the whole series. So far, though, I've never finished a one.

I also intend to someday watch all the Dirty Harry films. I've only seen "The Dead Pool."

My favorite movie would have to be "Never Say Never Again". That was a solid movie all the way through. For women, hmmm, I would say Sophie Marceau who played in "The World Is Not Enough". She was so hot. Favorite bond? Sean Connery all the way there. Favorite bad guy? Another tough one there. Hmmm, Jaws! Richard Kiel was my favorite there. unsure.gif Edited by Ru5h F@n

Licence Revoked? Is that one of the unofficial ones like Never Say never Again?

Favourite Bond - Pierce Brosnan

Favourite Bond Girl - Sophie Marceau

Favourit Villain - Either Sophie Marceau, as she was so evil and manipulating it's untrue, and she isn't one of those larger than life villains, or Sean Bean.

Favourite Film - GoldenEye

How about a favourite car category? Surely that questions essential to a Bond 'survery'? I'd go with the Vanquish.

He meant "Licence to Kill" with Timothy Dalton. That one was one of the dogs for sure, but I still enjoyed it. Dalton played the role too serious.

The all time worst one was "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" with George Lazenby. They got him after Connery didn't want to do it any more. He (Sean Connery) came back to do "Diamonds Are Forever" before they got Roger Moore.

Am I the only one who grew up on this stuff? I think I've seen every one at least four times. I remember seeing "The Man With the Golden Gun" when I was about 9 and giggling through the opening credits with my friends at the naked ladies.

I don't think you can enjoy Austin Powers completely without being a Bond fan.

I watched a lot of Bond movies when I was a kid, and I still enjoy them now. My favorite Bond movies are Dr. No and Casino Royale. The best Bond is of course Sean Connery, but Craig is also very good. My favorite Bond girl is Caterina Murino from Casino Royale! wub.gif

Actually, it was an honest mistake. 'License Renewed' was the working title of the movie, which I remember from reading an old article about it back in the 80's. I just got a little confused.

Favorite Bond? Probably Connery

Favorite Bond girl? Tracy Di Vicenzo (OHMSS) - Diana Rigg is, possibly, one of the most beautiful women to ever walk the Earth).

Favorite bad guy? Alec Trevelyan (Goldeneye)- Sean Bean is, almost, God and, as a Bond villain, equal to Baron Samedi (Live and Let Die)

Favourite Film - Goldfinger - pure genius and a rollercoaster from beginning to end

Apparently, it was meant to be 'Licence Revoked' too, but they scraped that because, apparently, research showed many americans didn't know what the term 'revoked' meant unsure.gif

I'm glad of that, licence to Kill sounds so much cooler.

Oh, and, Robert davi was avery good villain.

Fav Bond: Sean Connery...bar none. He set the Bond standard.

Fav Girl: I honestly can't say...too many to choose from!! drool1.gif

Fav film: "Thunderball," It just kicks ass all the way through; and the scenery is gorgeous.

Fav Villian: Alec Trevelyan. He was just so menacing.

Fav Car: It's a tie between the Aston Martin DB5 and the Lotus Esrit turbo.

I think this should be added:

Fav one-liner:

Pussy Galore: "Where's Goldfinger?"

Bond: "Playing his golden harp."

Bond owns... martini_shaken.gif

Does anyone remember this movie? It brought back so many memories for me and Tracey. I started crying all over again when I watched it last night on tv. Which is rare for me.

It wasn't as well received at the box office as the pictures that preceded it or followed it, but Peter Hunt's On Her Majesty's Secret Service was the finest of the James Bond movies and also arguably the last truly great movie in the series. James Bond, portrayed here by George Lazenby (in his only performance in the role) has spent nearly two years trying to track down Ernst Stavro Blofeld (Telly Savalas), the head of SPECTRE. He has been taken off the case by his chief (Bernard Lee), an action the pushes him to the point of considering resigning from Her Majesty's Secret Service, just as he opens a possible new avenue of attack on his quarry. Whilst in the field, Bond has chanced to cross paths with the Contessa Teresa Di Vicenzo (Diana Rigg), a beautiful but desperately unhappy woman, whom he rescues from one apparent suicide attempt and an embarrassing moment at a casino gaming table -- the Contessa, who prefers to be called Tracy ("Teresa was a saint"), is the daughter of Marc Ange Draco (Gabriele Ferzetti), an industrial and construction magnate and also a crime boss, who is impressed with Bond personally as well as professionally, and would like to see him marry his daughter. Bond is, at first, unwilling to involve himself with a woman -- any woman -- on that level, but Draco's underworld contacts give Bond a vital clue to Blofeld's whereabouts that get him back on the case and hot on the man's trail. Journeying incognito to Blofeld's mountaintop retreat in the Swiss Alps, Bond finds the criminal mastermind posing as a would-be nobleman and also as a philanthropist, running a clinic devoted to the treatment and eradication of allergies. It's all a front for a surprisingly sinister (and scientifically valid) plot for international blackmail that would make any previous Bond villain quake in fear. And in the process of staying alive long enough to have a chance of stopping Blofeld, Bond discovers the Tracy is truly like no woman he's ever known before -- one special enough that he finds himself willing to give up his life as a free-living, free-loving bachelor.
