heartofcygnus Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 the purpose of this post is not to belittle The Camera Eye or anyone who enjoys it. i was just wondering why so many fans on this forum consider it one of their favorite songs and want to see on the Snakes And Arrows tour this year. i do not dislike or hate the song but i definitely consider it my least favorite song off of moving pictures. to me it's a decent five minute song that is basically played twice and considered one track. could anyone just explain to me why they like it so much? thank you for your responses.
I Get High On You Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 well, upon deriving the cosine of the second quadration of dynamic fluidity beneath the song's parallax constant function, we can logically conclude that... ok, what i'm trying to say is that there's no way i can explain it to you. it just rocks!! if you don't like it that much, that's cool. as for wanting them to play it this time around, it's been decades since they've played it live and it be cool if they'd bring it out of the vault.
I Get High On You Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 ...and the lyrics are Brilliant (with a capital 'B') as in all of the songs from MP!
-D-RocK- Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 I like how the song builds, it gets rockin' pretty good.
COLDFIRE74 Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 I can't believe that it needs to be explained to you. Some people just don't get it.
keakag Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 All the individual parts are way cool. The drums build slowly with the soft bass drum and hi-hat..snare....cool traffic sounds in the background......guitar comes in....Geddy chimes in.....I guess you get it or you don't.
Part 4 of a Trilogy Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 i have a new found liking to natural science and camera eye lately.... i cant get enough of them both

Soni Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 I like it just for this line "The Buildings Are Lost in their limitless rise" And the solo is just great

Some songs just hit home. I heard this one and loved it from it's release. It was also the first Rush song I learned on drums. So it holds a special place with me.

telegraphcreeklocal Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 The Camera Eye played loud sounds sick.
rushrulz Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 The Camera Eye is awesome because of it's smooth lyrical flow, and is perhaps one of the most distinctive RUSH tunes. I could appreciate someone not having a particular liking for the song, but the existence of the song is more greatly appreciated.
spitball Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 There's a wide-angle picture in the Signals tourbook of Rush playing the Camera Eye on the MP tour (a skyline is visible on the back screen). The entire audience is seated. I personally remember sitting through it in 1981, even though I loved the song then and now. No, it is not the most exciting song of theirs, but to me, the Camera Eye just resonates...It has this somewhat restrained energy to it with a lot of big atmospheric creschendos, a lot of wide, sweeping musical colors to it. I love the parts and I love the sum of those parts. I guess it really is a great piece of music, but it leaves the audience too calm...I can see why they don;t play it anymore.
VagabondUZ Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 The Camera Eye instantly relaxes me every time I listen to it. I feel at peace. It's hard to explain....
Earthshine Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 When I saw them do it in 1981, Alex played the Gibson Howard Roberts guitar on it.
