sullysue
Look who I met this afternoon: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y111/ssullysue/MeMr.jpg A local talk radio station, Live 105.3 had The Tragically Hip visit their noon to 3 show. My sister is friends with Pugs and Kelly, the DJ's, and I got to meet Gordon Downie (in the pic above) and two other members of the band. Being a brand spankin' new fan, maybe rushengal or someone else familiar with the band can identify the others. They played an amazing acoustic set, including "In View," one of my favorites from World Container. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y111/ssullysue/TheHip4.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y111/ssullysue/TheHip3.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y111/ssullysue/TheHip2.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y111/ssullysue/TheHip1.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y111/ssullysue/gordondowney.jpg I was also fortunate enough to shake their hands and get their autographs. They were all very nice, gracious and polite. As I was saying goodbye to Pugs and Kelly, one of the assistants handed me two tickets for tonight's show at The Palladium Ballroom. What an awesome afternoon!

rushengal
Thats awesome Sully! I'm only a little jealous In View is actually the ringtone on my cell right now. But... its not my favorite from the album... 'Lonely End of the Rink' 'World Container' and 'Family Band' are on repeat on my MP3-er. You'll have to let me know how the show goes, and I hope you REALLY enjoy it The Hip can always use more fans 'Specially down in the States. rushengal
In honour of Sully meeting the band... I'm listening to ONLY the Hip until I reach the end of their Discography. Or the abbreviated version I have with me right now.

I'd rather they not know I exist than be remembered as the chick who passed out at Alex's feet in Dallas.

Me too! And I always think of D-13 when I hear Porcupine Tree, since she's the one who first told me to check them out. See how narrow our musical horizons would be without The Rush Forum? rushengal
Its not uncommon for member of the band to be seen around Kingston at random... and when they go into the studio to do recording of albums.... its just outside the city, at the Bath House... in the village of Bath. **TTH FACT** In the song 38 Years Old, a prison is named, Millhaven Pen, which is IN Bath

Uh, oh. According to PuppetKing and Finbar, I'm now officially a soccer mom for having a compilation CD. Anyway, I think I'm going to get Trouble at the Henhouse next. But, the music stores around here don't have a very good TTH selection. We're leaving in a few minutes for the Palladium. I'll try to get some pictures. sullysue
We just got home a while ago. What a great show! Gordon Downie is a blast to watch. He's really animated on stage. The Hip are amazing musicians. We stood for an hour before the show right in front so we had the best view. Here are the pics. Sorry for the quality. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y111/ssullysue/TheHip9.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y111/ssullysue/TheHip8.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y111/ssullysue/TheHip7.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y111/ssullysue/TheHip6.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y111/ssullysue/TheHip5.jpg

They'll be in Portland, OR on March 28th and Seattle on the 29th. Maybe you could go down there to see them. Now I get what you put as your location! I always thought, "Aw. Poor lonely invisi. " They played that song last night. During the encore, they played ZZ Top's "Tush." It was awesome. Some degenerate jumped up on stage during it and tried to sing with Gordon. He was literally thrown off the stage by security. I tried using the video function on my digital camera, but I don't think it worked. The sound was turned off anyway.
